General Notes

The following PDUs are supported:

  • bind_transmitter
  • bind_receiver
  • bind_transceiver
  • submit_sm
  • deliver_sm
  • enquire_link
  • generic_nack


The following PDU’s are not supported:

  • submit_multi
  • query_sm
  • cancel_sm
  • replace_sm


Phone numbers should be sent in international format, with no leading + or access code. For example, a U.S. number should be formatted as 12025551212; a UK number should be formatted as 447700900000, and so on.

Unsupported Features

This section details features which are part of the SMPP specification that Genesys does not currently support. It also describes the expected behaviour should the feature be sent in any requests.

Bind Requests

  • service_type
    • If provided Genesys will ignore.
  • interface_version
    • Genesys assumes 3.4.
  • addr_ton, addr_npi
    • If provided Genesys will ignore.

Messages sent TO Genesys

  • schedule_delivery_time
    • If provided Genesys will ignore.
  • The TON and NPI parameters.
    • If provided Genesys will ignore. Numbers should be sent in the format described above.
  • replace_if_present.
    • If provided Genesys will ignore.
  • service_type
    • If provided Genesys will ignore.

Messages sent FROM Genesys

  • service_type will never be sent by Genesys to clients.
  • Both the TON and API values will be set to 0. The format of the phone numbers will be as described above.
  • schedule_delivery_time will be set to NULL
  • validity_period will be set to NULL

Genesys supports the following data encodings:

The default encoding is UTF-8. If you need to change the encoding, please work with your Genesys account manager.
