Audio Response Unit

Also known as an ARU. A device that provides synthesized voice responses to Dual-Tone Multi Frequency (DTMF) signaling input by processing calls, based on:

  • The call-originator input.
  • Information received from a host database.
  • Information in the incoming call, such as the time of day.

  • Important
    ARUs are used to increase the number of calls that are handled and to provide consistent quality in information retrieval.
