Introduction

This release note applies to all 8.1 releases of SIP Feature Server.

• Links in the Contents section enable you to access information regarding a specific release. Releases are listed by version number rather than in date order. For this reason, a recent release may be listed after earlier releases, if the version number is lower. Except when otherwise noted in the information for a specific release, each release includes all of the features and corrections that were introduced for the applicable operating system at earlier dates, regardless of the version numbering.
• The Release Number table lists the supported operating systems for each release at a high level. For more detailed information, see the Genesys Supported Operating Environment Reference Guide.
• The Known Issues and Recommendations topics are cumulative lists. They include information on when individual items were found and, if applicable, corrected.
• The Corrections and Modifications section for each release may list additional issues that were corrected without first being documented as Known Issues.

Genesys follows applicable third-party redistribution policies to the extent that Genesys solutions utilize third-party functionality. Supported Operating Systems

New in This Release

This is an update for this product. To apply this update to your environment, follow the instructions in Upgrading SIP Feature Server.

This release of SIP Feature Server requires:

• The Java 17 execution environment (OpenJDK version).
• SIP Feature Server GAX plugin release 8.1.200.73 or higher.
• SIP Feature Server Device Management GAX plugin release 8.1.200.67 or higher.

This release contains the following new features or functionality:

• Starting from this release, SIP Feature Server's embedded administrative user interface has been completely removed; the deprecation announcement of the same was made in the release 8.1.201.83 dated 09/14/16. Therefore, use GAX plugin for SIP Feature Server to perform administration and maintenance tasks on Dialplan, Voicemail, and Device Management features. (SIPVM-7156)
• Starting from this release, OpenJDK 8 and OpenJDK 11 are no longer supported. (SIPVM-7155)
• SIP Feature Server now includes Jetty Web server version 12. (SIPVM-7154)
• The Spring Web framework library is upgraded from Spring 5 to Spring 6 to address security vulnerabilities. (SIPVM-7062)

This release of SIP Feature Server requires:

• SIP Feature Server GAX plugin release 8.1.200.73 or higher.
• SIP Feature Server Device Management GAX plugin release 8.1.200.67 or higher.

This release contains the following new features or functionality:

• The Prometheus client version is now updated to 0.16.0 version. As part of this update, all the counter metrices will now have the suffix _total appended to them. (SIPVM-6888)
• SIP Feature Server supports OpenJDK 17. (SIPVM-6927)
• Starting with this release, the Embedded Cassandra deployment mode of Feature Server is being phased out and support will be fully removed in future versions. The Embedded Cassandra database and all its dependent libraries are now delivered as a standalone module that can be removed when not in use. Feature Server can still function without the Embedded Cassandra module provided it uses External Cassandra in the backend. For more information, see SIP Feature Server Deployment Guide. (SIPVM-6938)
• A new option, disable is now available in the Voicemail Server section. When this option is set to true, the Voicemail functionality will be disabled for both Voice User Interface (VUI) and Telephonic User Interface (TUI). However, when managing mailboxes and messages, profiles can still be provisioned even when Voicemail is disabled. By default, this option is set to false. (SIPVM-6939)

This release contains the following new features or functionality:

• SIP Feature Server now detects the corrupted messages in the mailbox and prints them in logs when it reaches the threshold value. This feature can be enabled by configuring any positive integer in the new option, corrupted-messages-threshold introduced in the Monitoring section. For more information, see SIP Feature Server Deployment Guide. (SIPVM-6768)
• A new configuration option, prompt-delay-ms, is introduced in the VoicemailServer Section (Application object) section to adjust the delay or add a silent prompt in multiples of 600 ms before the first prompt of each menu during voicemail access. (SIPVM-6745).

Corrections and Modifications

This release includes the following correction and modification:

SIP Feature Server now correctly displays the value of the parameter voicemail retention limit set using GAX. Previously, the value No limit was not reflected in SIP Feature Server. (SIPVM-6566)

Memory leakage no longer occurs when Prometheus queries SIP Feature Server for metrics. (SIPVM-6770)

• SIP Feature Server now provides two options, skip-optout-prompt and skip-confirm_ouptout-prompt, to remove the following voicemail opt out prompts from the voicemail deposit flow:

• SIP Feature Server now supports the cassandraPoolSize option in the dialplan section that specifies the SIP Feature Server Dialplan Cassandra pool size utilized for all Cassandra read/write operations. This option can be set to a positive integer value of 15 and above. (SIPVM-6264)
• SIP Feature Server now supports the Async logging feature in dialplan to minimize the dialplan response time by elimination of writing logs in serial manner and writing XS requests and responses at information level. (SIPVM-6264)
• As of April 1, 2021, SIP Feature Server now supports Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 operating system. (SIPVM-6537)

• SIP Feature Server now supports the request-rate-vm option in the Monitoring section that specifies the number of requests per second that SIP Feature Server can process from Media Control Platform (MCP) during voicemail mail deposit and access. This option can be set to a non-zero integer value. (SIPVM-6394)
• SIP Feature Server now supports the request-rate-dm option in the Monitoring section that specifies the number of requests per second that SIP Feature Server can process by provisioning requests from IP phones through Elastic Load Balancing (ELB) and IP phone upgrade requests. • SIP Feature Server now supports the connection-pool-limit option in the Cassandra section that limits the number of connection pools to Cassandra. This option can be set to a non-zero integer value. (SIPVM-6394)

• SIP Feature Server now allows you to identify a user, based on the User Id and Mailbox Password fields. The User Id field is new.
• Administrators can now assign a user ID and password to multiple users using the Bulk Upload option.
• The password is now associated with the user and not the mailbox, when the user-login option is set to true in the VoicemailServer section of the SIP Feature Server application. Therefore, the user can access all the associated mailboxes using the same password.
• SIP Feature Server now restricts the number of concurrent sessions to access voicemail.
• The number of concurrent sessions can now be configured using the max-concurrent-sessions option in SIP Feature Server.

This release contains the following new features or functionality:

• SIP Feature Server now exports voicemail data in .wav format from the Cassandra database when requested by the customer, as per GDPR Compliance. The exported voicemail data is in a client-understandable format.
• SIP Feature server now stores all the person options and passes it to SIP Server in XS response. This allows SIP Server to enable recording at Agent (person) level.
• When SIP Feature Server is upgraded to 8.1.202.16 version, the reimport task should be run manually to import person level configurations.
• To support this person level recording feature, SIP Server release 8.1.103.26 or higher is required. (SIPVM-5260)
• Feature Server now supports reimporting of configuration data as scheduled task. See ScheduledTasks section.

Important: The previous interface remains available, but is not recommended, because it will not include the new features delivered in future releases of Feature Server.

Important: This release of SIP Feature Server runs only with the Feature Server GAX plugin release 8.1.200.19. If you are running a later version of the Feature Server GAX plugin, use the Feature Server version that pairs with it.

Corrections and Modifications

This release includes the following corrections or modifications:

A Feature Server upgrade no longer requires restoration of Cassandra configuration and database files. Backing up your system before an upgrade is always recommended. (SIPVM-2006)

User-Device association no longer fails during initial data import. (SIPVM-1896)

If Forward On No Answer is set to any destination (including voicemail) and then disabled, and the user sets call waiting to Off, Feature Server now correctly ignores any call forwarding settings. (SIPVM-1736)

SIP Cluster only: Bulk assignment of calling profiles is now available for DNs. (SIPVM-1475)

The option Voicemail Enabled has moved from the Call Settings page to the Mailboxes page, and now controls Call Forwarding as well as Call Waiting and Reject Call Not Ready. (SIPVM-1238)

Feature Server no longer ignores dial plan port setting. Previously, Feature Server always used dial plan port 8800, regardless of the value of the port option in the dialplan section. (SIPVM-1801)

When a VoIP Service DN is created under an invalid section name, SERVICE_DATA now properly synchronizes to the Cassandra database. (SIPVM-1556)

After it is disabled at the switch level, the opt-out prompt is no longer playing. (SIPVM-1408)

This component was previously available as a restricted release. There are no restrictions for this release. This release contains the following new features or functionality:

  • Improved voice prompts for the Telephone User Interface (TUI) are available in the following 11 language variants: English (UK and US), Spanish (Spain and Latin America), German, French, Italian, Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, and Chinese.
  • If the option advance-audio-control is set to its default value of true, users can control message playback: forward, rewind, pause, and adjust volume. Chrome users cannot forward or rewind, but can pause and adjust volume.
  • If your environment is using the SIP Server dial plan, you can disable the Feature Server dial plan and set the Feature Server Administration and User web applications to hide unavailable dial plan-related settings. A new configuration option in the Dial Plan section, active, controls the start and display of the Feature Server dial plan.
  • For voicemail message playback, administrators can now set a default time zone for the application, switches, mailboxes, and users. Users can also select their own time zone. When a user specifies a time zone in their user profile, the value overrides the administrator setting. The user time zone also takes precedence over the default time zones for the application, switch, and mailbox, unless:
    • the user time zone is set to Default and the mailbox time zone is not set to Default, or
    • the user uses the telephone UI to log into a group mailbox anonymously, without first logging into a personal mailbox
    In both cases, the mailbox time zone takes precedence.
  • For voicemail message playback, administrators can now set a default language for the application, switches, and mailboxes (users cannot set their language). The mailbox language takes precedence over the default languages for the application and switch. Deposit and retrieval use the same language.
  • Callers can now opt out of voicemail at any time during a call.
  • A new configuration option in the VoicemailServer section, voice-message-priority-enabled, enables callers to specify whether the voicemail they are leaving is urgent or normal priority. The priority setting was always available to users in SIP Voicemail 8.1.1.

This release includes the following corrections or modifications:

Time zone and language options set at the application level override those settings at the switch level. The Configuration Options help topic was incorrect. (SIPVM-1700)

In the Monitoring tab of the Feature Server administration application, ICON Server is now available. (SIPVM-1646)

Group mailbox administrators can now change the time zone of a group mailbox. (SIPVM-1636)

Changes made to Switch Object parameters during a network disconnection between Configuration Server and Feature Server now take effect after reconnection. (SIPVM-1423)

In a multi-site configuration, Message Waiting Indicators generated for group mailboxes on one site are now replicated to other sites. Specifically, all agents in an agent group now receive MWI update notifications. (SIPVM-1411)

On the Mailboxes page of the Administrative web application, the Owners field now displays the owner name if the owner type is Agent-login and the Agent login is not associated with a user. (SIPVM-1379)

When the Forward All Calls profile for a user or device is set to voicemail and no mailbox is configured for the user or device, voicemail is no longer deposited into the caller mailbox. (SIPVM-1373)

Each outbound routing rule must have at least one trunk assigned to it. (SIPVM-1299)

In Configuration Manager or Genesys Administrator, if any section is emptied or deleted from the Annex tab, synchronization with the Feature Server (Cassandra) data repository now occurs properly. (SIPVM-1059/SIPVM-1008)

If any forwarding profile on a DN or a user is disabled (unchecked), and the Voicemail Enabled option is not set to Yes, then calls to this user are no longer barred. This correction also applies to the default forwarding settings defined on the Dial Plan Settings configuration page. (SIPVM-1024)

Calling profiles cannot be deleted, but a new menu option, Not set, disables them. (SIPVM-736)

Configuring the New Firmware

• To configure under Profile, go to GAX > DM Plugin > Profiles > select any profile> Supplementary Services.
• To configure under Device, go to GAX > DM Plugin > Devices > select any profile> Supplementary Services.
• To enable SIP Notify to trigger DTMF, use Configuration Manager at the DN level to set the value of the [TServer] spi-cti-control option to dtmf.
• To configure the Retransmission timer, go to GAX > DM Plugin > Profiles > ''select any profile'' > Business Continuity. Change the registration mode to dual.
• You can configure the retransmission timer parameter only in dual registration mode. Values can range from 20—200 Genesys recommends the default, 50.
