New in This Release

This is a hot fix for this product. This release does not contain new features or functionality.

Corrections and Modifications

This release includes the following corrections and modifications:

Stream Manager now ignores all packets of the wrong (un-negotiated) codec type, which may occur because of signaling delays during stream re-connections. If such packets are received for a conference party, Stream Manager no longer drops the party. (ER# 246136853)

Stream Manager no longer becomes unstable in a rare scenario in which the announcement audio stream is canceled (because of the port=0 parameter in SDP) and then started again (with a non-zero port in SDP). This issue occurred if a media file was in the ZIP format. (ER# 241953591)

Supported Operating Systems
New in This Release
Corrections and Modifications

Supported Operating Systems

The operating systems supported by this release are listed in the Contents, above.

New in This Release

There are no restrictions for this release. This release contains the following new features or functionality.

Corrections and Modifications

This release includes the following corrections and modifications:

The value of the codec options sip-g723/g729/h261/h263/h264-fmtp may now include an optional part enclosed in square brackets. For example, the option sip-g729-fmtp can be set to the value (square brackets required) of [annexb=no]. Stream Manager will only use this part of the value in the SDP when the remote offer does not include any parameters (including the case where there is no remote offer yet). However, if the parameters are available in the remote offer, Stream Manager will duplicate these parameters in the response SDP, instead of the parameters configured in this option.

In order to support G.729 codec negotiation with the AT&T gateway, using this new optional part, you can now configure the sip-g729-fmtp option on Stream Manager as follows:

       sip-g729-fmtp = [annexb=no]

This setting results in the following behavior:

Note: When the option value is specified without square brackets, Stream Manager uses the value unconditionally (in other words, the value is included in the outgoing SDP regardless of the value supplied in the remote offer). This is compatible with behavior in previous versions.

(ER# 221684991)

The smmix utility no longer responds with an error after completing the mixing operation for a conference recording. Previously, a memory problem during the cleanup phase might have caused the utility to shutdown unexpectedly, generating an error message. (ER# 221015379)

Stream Manager no longer plays two simultaneous messages to the caller after a failover to the backup T-Server, when integrating with Cisco Call Manager.

To address this issue, a new option, lost-leg-timeout has been added to the limits section in the Options tab of the Stream Manager Application object.

lost-leg-timeout
Default Value: 2 seconds
Valid Values: A time unit in one of the following formats:
    [[[hours:]minutes:]seconds][.milliseconds]
[hours hr] [minutes min] [seconds sec] [milliseconds msec]
Changes Take Effect: After application restart

Specifies the inactivity timeout period for unresponsive (lost) call legs. The defined value specifies the maximum length of time that Stream Manger will continue sending out RTP packets for a call without receiving any packets in return, after the connection to T-Server is lost. This feature only applies to T-Server for Cisco Call Manager.

To define the inactivity timeout period, for any of the time units in the valid values description above, replace the time unit in italics (for example hours) with the desired integer value. For example, the value
     1:30:20.4
OR
     1 hr 30 min 20 sec 4 msec
defines a timeout period of 1 hour, 30 minutes, 20 seconds, and 4 milliseconds.

If you specify a value but do not specify any measuring units, Stream Manager uses the default unit of seconds. For example, a value of 10 (with no defined measuring unit) results in a 10-second timeout period. (ER# 180739511)

Supported Operating Systems

The operating systems supported by this release are listed in the Contents, above.

New in This Release

This is a hot fix for this product. This release does not contain new features or functionality.

Corrections and Modifications

This release includes the following corrections and modifications:

Stream Manager now correctly reconnects to the backup Configuration Server when the primary server is terminated abnormally. Previously, the reconnection in this scenario failed.

Note: No reconnection problems occurred in cases where the primary Configuration Server was terminated normally (using SCS or Ctrl+C); the failure only occurred in abnormal cases, such as inadvertent shutdown, or in simulations using the 'kill' command.

(ER# 218578593)

Stream Manager now supports Push Video functionality for the H.264 codec, which was temporarily unavailable in Stream Manager release 7.6.002.02. (ER# 211044131)

Supported Operating Systems

The operating systems supported by this release are listed in the Contents, above.

New in This Release

This is a hot fix for this product. This release does not contain new features or functionality.

Corrections and Modifications

This release includes the following corrections and modifications:

Stream Manager now correctly discards duplicate and out-of-order RTP packets. Previously, Stream Manager sometimes incorrectly reported multiple DTMF events when it received duplicate packets from the endpoint.

Note: In this case, endpoint behavior was not normal, and occurred only with eyeBeam / X-Lite SIP endpoints.

(ER# 204988951)

Stream Manager no longer corrupts DTMF packets during regular recording with the G.729 codec when the destination endpoint indicates that it does not support Annex B. (ER# 204805932)

When operating with Cisco Call Manager, Stream Manager no longer terminates when it receives multiple RTP packets with an unexpected payload (which does not correspond to any known codecs, such as 100), on the call leg that is not active. (ER# 204636915)

The .lms file for Stream Manager now loads correctly on the Linux platform, so that log messages are printed correctly. (ER# 203671710)

Supported Operating Systems

The operating systems supported by this release are listed in the Contents, above.

New in This Release

This is a hot fix for this product. This release does not contain new features or functionality.

Corrections and Modifications

This release includes the following corrections and modifications:

DTMF playback (with a SIP URL containing play=dtmf:digits) using the both method now provides the correct sequence number in RTP packets. Previously, the sequence numbers were sometimes incorrect, resulting in the loss of DTMF, or in audio not being heard at some endpoints. (ER# 201941590)

When the file for Regular Call Recording cannot be created, Stream Manager no longer terminates after generating the 488 Not Acceptable Here message. (ER# 203483801)

The processing of converting uncompressed video or compressed .avi files into a video stream encoded with H.261, H.263, or H.264 codecs has been simplified with a new script.

The new script is compatible with Linux and Microsoft Windows, and requires Perl, MPlayer/MEncoder, and SMZIP (the latter included in the Stream Manager installation package. To use the script, copy it into the Stream Manager root installation directory, and run it as follows:

perl smcvt.pl <movie_file> [-o <out_name>] [-ac <ac_list>] <video_fmt> [<video_fmt>]...

where:

movie_file   The name of the movie file (containing both audio and video) to convert, encoded in any format supported by MPlayer/MEncoder tools.

out_name   The name of the output file (the .zip file extension is added automatically unless it is already present). The default file name is <movie_file>.zip.

codecs   A comma-separated list of audio codecs. Valid names are pcmu, pcma, gsm, msgsm, g723, g729, or all. Default is pcmu, pcma.

video_fmt   Video codec parameters for the output, as follows:

h263:<size>=<mpi>[,<size>=<mpi>]...
h264:<size>[/<plid>]=<mpi>[,<size>[/<plid>]=<mpi>]...

where:

size   SQCIF (128x 96)
QCIF (176x144)
CIF (352x288)
CIF4 (704x576)
QVGA (320x240) - H.264 only
VGA (640x480) - H.264 only
SVGA (800x600) - H.264 only

mpi   Minimum picture interval. Valid values are an integer from 1 to 6; specifies a rate of 30000/1001/mpi frames per second.

plid   Profile-level-id. A Hexadecimal number defined by the H.264 standard. Default is baseline (42e0xx), with the level calculated by size/mpi.

The script attempts to search the MPlayer/MEncode installation on Windows; on Linux, these tools are installed in the standard location and are automatically added to the path). In case of failure, the following message is displayed and manual configuration may be required:

FATAL: could not find mplayer/mencoder. Make sure both tools are installed and accessible to the script. Packages are available at http://www.mplayerhq.hu or (for Linux) in the package repository for your distribution. On Windows it may be necessary to set env.variable 'MPLAYER_DIR' to the installation directory, using short name like C:\\PROGRA~1\\MPLAYE~1 (use 'dir /x' to learn such name).

(ER# 202490296)

Playback of video in H.264 codec is improved to use Fragmentation Units as defined in RFC 3984. Previously, Stream Manager may have used RTP packets larger than the MTU size and may not have played higher quality video files correctly (by jumping to the beginning of the file if the frame size exceeded 8 KB). (ER# 194198051)

Corrections and Modifications

Supported Operating Systems

The operating systems supported by this release are listed in the Contents, above.

New in This Release

There are no restrictions for this release. This section describes new features that were introduced in the initial 7.6 release of Stream Manager.

Corrections and Modifications

This release includes the following corrections and modifications that were made between Release 7.5 or earlier releases and the initial 7.6 release:

Stream Manager now properly closes RTP/RTCP ports after a timeout period, in cases when the SIP transaction was not correctly completed (missing ACK message after the INVITE request and the 200 Ok response). Previously, Stream Manager left these ports open indefinitely, which could have resulted in running out of available ports after a large number of failed SIP transactions (due to SIP Server failure or severe network problems). (ER# 121568939)

Stream Manager now correctly processes network paths (such as \\samba\user\tmp) in the filename of the recording. Previously, this syntax caused the error message "Cannot create '\\samba' directory" and the request was rejected. (ER# 129836631)

Stream Manager now correctly applies the max-record-time option while in pcap recording mode. Previously, the option was ignored in this scenario. (ER# 146808191)

Stream Manager no longer ends abruptly when recording happens to stop manually at the same moment that it is stopped automatically by the application itself (when the max-record-time limit is reached). (ER# 157201333)

A polling mechanism has been added to monitor the state of the connection between Stream Manager and T-Server for Cisco CallManager. When connected to T-Server for Cisco CallManager, Stream Manager periodically pings the connection (every 2 seconds); if the response is not received within 5 seconds, Stream Manager considers the connection dead, drops it, and starts the regular reconnection procedure. Previously, no polling mechanism was available. (ER# 147150580)

Known Issues and Recommendations

This section provides the latest information on known issues and recommendations associated with this product.

Currently, the Framework 7.6 Stream Manager Deployment Guide contains the following description of the Tenant field in Table 5 (Chapter 3) and Table 6 (Chapter 4):

"In a multi-tenant environment, the name of the Tenant. Stream Manager can be associated with only one Tenant. The Tenant must be the same as that specified for the T-Server that uses this Stream Manager application."

Use the following statement instead:

"In a multi-tenant environment, the name of the Tenant. Stream Manager can be associated with only one Tenant. If the Stream Manager application is shared between several Tenants, specify the Environment value in this Tenant field."

(ER# 213252318)

Currently, the Read Me file included in the Stream Manager Installation Package does not list support for IBM AIX Version 6.1 operating system. Note that this version is supported starting in 7.6.004.01. The Read Me will be updated accordingly with the next issue of the Stream Manager CD.

Found In: 7.6.004.01

On the Solaris 64-bit platform, Stream Manager has known performance issues with the G.723 codec. Affected scenarios include:

For 64-bit Stream Manager deployments, Genesys strongly recommends that you remove the g723 value from the following options: sip-annc-codecs, sip-conf-codecs and sip-annc-transcode. If you require the G.723 codec for any of these scenarios, use the 32-bit version of Stream Manager instead. (ER# 193108261)

Found In: 7.6.002.00 Fixed In:

On application startup, Stream Manager does not properly detect whether the TCP port for SIP communication is already in use by another program. Stream Manager continues startup regardless of whether the port is really available (as opposed to UDP, where port availability is detected correctly, and Stream Manager does not start if it cannot open the UDP port). (ER# 181656906)

Found In: 7.6.002.00 Fixed In:

In the prompt-URL for Announcement through HTTP section of the Stream Manager 7.6 Deployment Guide, a note should be added stating that, in cases where stream mode is enabled (mode=stream), Stream Manager does not add codec-specific suffix/extensions to the URL. The supplied name is used as is. (ER# 151816326)
