Known Issues and Recommendations

This section provides the latest information on known issues and recommendations associated with this product.

When two versions of the Platform SDK for Java version 7.6.201.xx have been installed on the same computer, the Start menu shortcuts for the Application Blocks of the second version are placed with the Start menu shortcuts of the first version.

For example, if the Platform SDK for Java version 7.6.200.10 has been installed on a computer and version 7.6.201.03 is subsequently installed on the same computer, the shortcuts for the Application Blocks of version 7.6.201.03 will be grouped with the shortcuts for version 7.6.200.10, instead of appearing with the shortcuts for version 7.6.201.03.

If you specify an IPv6 host in an Endpoint, an exception will occur. This is because, first of all, the Platform SDK for Java is based on NIO, and secondly, NIO does not support IPv6 in Java 1.4 through 1.6. Until Java adds support for IPv6, single stack servers will not be able to use IPv6. For dual stack machines it is possible to "prefer" IPv4 using a system property of java.net.preferIPv4Stack=true. For more information, see http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/net/ipv6_guide/.

Some documentation provided with the Platform SDKs is still being developed. The most recent SDK documentation is available at the Genesys Developer Zone. You can reach Genesys Online Documentation at http://docs.genesys.com.

This release is not binary compatible with previous releases. If you plan to use applications built with previous releases in the Platform SDK 7.6 environment, then you must recompile those applications. You may also need to make minor changes to the source code.

On the Solaris 10 platform, the Platform SDKs cannot open a connection due to an I/O failure in the selector loop in the connect() method. This is a problem with the Solaris 10 JDK. For a workaround, see http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6322825. (ER# 87809431)

The Platform SDK for Java incorrectly deserializes message attributes of type long. (ER# 111058706)
