Corrections and Modifications
The operating systems supported by this release are listed in the Contents, above.
There are no restrictions for this release. This section describes new features that were introduced in this release of Message Server.
Message Server now supports log messages encoded using UTF-8.
The Log Database can be initialized to support UTF-8 encoded log messages, using new multi-language initialization scripts. For MS SQL Log Databases, which use UCS-2 encoding, the Log Database Access Point (DAP) can be configured to transcode the data as necessary to work in a multi-language environment that uses UTF-8 encoding.
By default, Message Server now enables automatic authentication of the
server's security certificate by the Windows TLS client socket. However,
this might cause the failure of existing TLS connections that do not have
server certificates. To prevent authentication errors on those existing TLS
connections, make sure that server certificates are used. Alternatively,
you can use the new option client-auth
to disable the default
behavior and restore pre-8.1.3 behavior.
If Message Server is unable to enter a log into the Log Database, a log event is generated, and can be used to trigger an alarm.
Message Server supports new versions of operating systems and a new virtualization platform. Refer to the Genesys Supported Operating Environment Guide for more information.
Note: Support of Genesys Security Pack on UNIX version 8.5.100.12 or higher was added to this release on December 16, 2016.
This release also contains the following corrections and modifications:
Message Server no longer consumes up to 100% of the CPU if a value of
NA
is specified for its block-messages
option
in the db-filter
configuration options section.
(MFWK-14044, ER# 321711410)
Message Server now uses the option ip-version
in an IPv6
dual-stack environment, enabling it to connect and work with servers
that use a mixed IPv4/IPv6 configuration.

Message Server now supports new operating systems. Refer to the Genesys Supported Operating Environment Reference Manual for more information.
This release also contains the following correction or modification:
Message Server no longer displays the error Invalid binary binding
data
when writing data that contains an apostrophe ('
)
to the database, and the apostrophe ('
) is written to the
database correctly. Previously in this scenario, the error message would
appear and a double apostrophe (''

There are no restrictions for this release. This release does not contain new features or functionality.
This release includes the following correction or modification:
Message Server no longer stops processing new messages if the current message contains more than 10,000 characters. It now discards the current message and proceeds to the next. Previously, Message Server would repeatedly try to process the long message and not proceed to subsequent messages. (ER# 288559828)

This section provides corrections and updates for issues found in currently released documentation for this product.
The "Message Server Configuration Options" chapter of the Framework 8.1
Configuration Options Reference Manual contains two configuration
options that do not exist: thread-mode
and
thread-pool-size
. These two options will be removed from the
next version of the manual.
This section provides the latest information on known issues and recommendations associated with this product.
If you use a tool other than Windows certificate services to generate the
TLS security certificate and then import the certificate to Windows manually,
the CERT_TRUST_REVOCATION_STATUS_UNKNOWN
validation error will
occur and the TLS connection to the Genesys server will fail.
Workaround: Set the client-auth
option to 0
(zero) in the security
section at the host, application, or
port level (the same level at which your certificate security is configured)
to disable server authentication in the Message Server TLS socket. Refer to
the Framework 8.1 Configuration Options Reference Manual for a full
description of this option and how to use it.

If both servers of an HA pair are located on a single host, and if you
configure Client-side Port settings (the port
and
backup-port
options) for the connection to Message Server
from the primary server, these options are automatically propagated to the
corresponding backup server. As a result, after switchover, the backup
server cannot connect to Message Server. In the case of Configuration Server
or Solution Control Server, the connection is established, but only after 5
to 10 minutes.
Workaround: Locate the backup server on a different host than the primary server, or manually change the Client-side Port settings for the backup server.
