Corrections and Modifications

This release also includes the following corrections and modifications:

You can now deploy Message Server on a host running Windows Server 2008 using the Deployment Wizard in Genesys Administrator.

The Log Database has been upgraded to provide the following benefits:

Warning: Upgrading a large Log Database with a large number of records can take a significant amount of time.

Note: Upgrading the Log Database is optional, and required only if you want to obtain the benefits listed above. Message Server will work with the Log Database whether it is upgraded or not.

To upgrade your log database to 8.0, do the following:

  1. If you are upgrading from version 6.x, use the instructions in the Genesys Migration Guide to upgrade your Log Database from 6.x to 7.x.

  2. Upgrade all Message Servers to 8.0, using the instructions in the Genesys Migration Guide.

  3. For each Message Server configured on the log database to be updated, set the configuration option db_storage to false.

  4. If you are using the Sybase DBMS, switch on the Select into/bulkcopy/pllsort option.

  5. Execute the script upgrade_7Xto80_<DBMS type>.sql for the type of DBMS that you are using.

  6. After the upgrade script has completed running, set the configuration option db_storage to true for those Message Servers configured on the updated database, as necessary.

In the following scenario, Message Server now tries to reconnect to Log DB Server until the connection is established.

  1. The Log DB Server client either terminates or loses connection to the DBMS.
  2. Message Server disconnects from Log DB Server and then tries to reconnect.
  3. The first attempt to reconnect fails, so Message Server waits a short time and tries to reconnect again. However, this second attempt also fails.

Previously, Message Server would stop trying to connect at this point.

(ER# 205905469)

The text of log events 00-04503 and 00-04504 now include the attribute [server name] as specified in Framework Combined Log Events Help. (ER# 223692731)
