New in This Release

This is a hot fix release of this product. This release contains no new features or functionality.

Corrections and Modifications

This release includes the following correction and modification:

In Build 2 of 8.1.200.05, released on 10/13/2014, Web API Installer is now compatible with UTF8. (ESR-8463)

Web API Server no longer runs out of memory when sending chat requests. Previously, for each request sent to Chat Server, Web API Server created a thread that did not exit on its own, and the accumulation of these threads caused Web API Server to run out of memory. (ER# 320298397)

Corrections and Modifications

Supported Operating Systems

The operating systems supported by this release are listed in the Contents, above.

New in This Release

This is a hot fix release of this product. This release contains no new features or functionality.

Corrections and Modifications

This release includes the following corrections and modifications:

In this release, clients no longer incorrectly terminate chat sessions in situations with heavy loads.

Previously it happened that, with loads of 30–50 connections per second to Web API Server, clients could not establish a connection to Chat Server, producing the message java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Exception while registering mbean when running with a heavy load.

Note: The figure of 30–50 connections per second depends on the performance of hardware and the network: on weak servers (especially those running under Virtual Machines) this issue could arise with only 10–20 connections per second from Chat clients. (ER# 315257631)

Known Issues and Recommendations

This section provides the latest information on known issues and recommendations associated with this product.

Web API Server fails to connect to backup servers when the primary server is in an application cluster. For example,

  1. The primary Chat Server is configured as part of an application cluster.
  2. The primary server is configured with a backup server, but the backup server is not part of the cluster.
  3. Web API Server has a connection to the cluster.
  4. Both primary and backup Chat Servers are running.
  5. Then the primary Chat Server stops.
  6. Web API Server does not connect to the backup Chat Server.
As a workaround, remove primary server applications from the application cluster and add them to the Web API Server's connection list. (ER# 284043291)

The e-mail samples in this release of Web API Server are not compatible with Email Server Java (ESJ) 8.0.1 and lower. (ER# 261672121)

Workaround: If you want to use ESJ 8.0 or 8.0.1, you should only use 8.0 or 8.0.1 e-mail samples. The following SimpleSamples802 folders should be populated with the contents of the same folders from SimpleSamples80 or SimpleSamples801: Email and EmailWithAttachment.
