Social Messaging Server no longer processes interactions when a second access point is not configured. If a Chat session is requested by a media channel, Social Media Server sends a negative result to the media channel with the following message: session (DspPU).(processOrdnTi): failed to create session, request ignored, server unable to create chat session. Previously, if Facebook Private Messaging Monitor was configured without a second access point, the Facebook session interactions were submitted as reqular Facebook posts to the Interaction Server and delivered to the agent with exceptions. (SMD-1206)

In this release, Social Messaging Server that is configured as backup registers with Interaction Server correctly, and thus Interaction Server is able to send requests to the backup instance when it is running in primary mode. Previously, a backup Social Messaging Server did not register with Interaction Server properly. As a result, Interaction Server was unable to send requests addressed to a server configured as primary when the backup was running in primary mode. (ER# 301179871)


Social Messaging Server no longer switches from primary to backup mode and becomes unavailable for clients in the following scenario:

Known Issues and Recommendations

Social Media Server does not support dynamic updating of the options in the log section. (SMD-1527)

Social Media Server does not support the start-up parameter -transport-ip-version in command line while connecting to Configuration Server.
If you are operating on a dual-stack machine, and the dual stack is enabled, add the following line to the smserver.sh file on UNIX, or the JavaServerStarter.ini file on Windows:

-Djava.net.preferIPv6Addresses=true

This specifies internet protocol versions that you are using. In this case, the internet protocol is IPv6. The valid values are true or false. The default value is false.

Social Media Server does not support multiple Interaction Servers in its connections. To work around this, use one connection to Interaction Server only in the Social Media Server's application. (SMD-1482)

Social Media Server does not support the backup-port option in a client-side port configuration, because of the limitation in Java PSDK (PSDK-6580). The value of the port option is used for both primary and backup servers. (SMD-1440)

Social Messaging Server might encounter an issue with TLS that is related to the Java issue described at http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=2215658. To avoid this issue, Genesys recommends using JDK/JRE 1.7.0_2 or higher. (SMD-1439)

Social Messaging Server may return an inconsistent reply to an ESP request if it receives the request at a time when the corresponding driver is not ready to execute it. (ER# 315333931)

Social Messaging Server sometimes fails to initialize the drivers. (ER# 292541598)

In a primary/backup configuration, Social Messaging Server switches from primary to backup mode and becomes unavailable for clients whenever dynamic changes are made in the Configuration Layer to its application settings or to settings for applications to which it is connected. (ER# 284024191)

If you install Social Messaging Server by using Configuration Layer version 8.0 or earlier, you must edit the .sh or .ini file so that it selects the ThirdPartyServer configuration type.

On a UNIX platform (AIX, Linux, Solaris), update the smserver.sh as follows:

  1. Locate and comment the following string:
    JVMPARAMS= ...
  2. Uncomment the following string:
    #JVMPARAMS= ...

On Windows, update the JavaServerStarter.ini file as follows:

  1. Locate and comment the following string:
    -Dgenesys.mcr.stdserverex.apptype=CFGSocialMS
  2. Uncomment the following string:
    ;-Dgenesys.mcr.stdserverex.apptype=CFGThirdPartyServer
