Corrections and Modifications
This is a hot fix release of this product. No new features were introduced in this release of E-mail Server.
This release includes the following corrections and modifications:
In this release, when E-mail Server processes an e-mail that
contains comma-separated Message-IDs in the References
header,
it correctly extracts the Message-IDs.
Previously when processing e-mail of this type, which is not compliant with RFC-2822,
E-mail Server could repeatedly attempt to process the e-mails, causing an increase of log messages with exception traces.

Corrections and Modifications
There are no restrictions for this release. This section describes new features that were introduced in this release of E-mail Server.
This release also includes the following corrections and modifications:
The following scenario has been resolved:
E-mail Server no longer ignores the enable-starttls
option, which is used to enable a secure MS Exchange 2007 connection. (ER# 256771447)
The Platform SDK's WebMedia
request CreateWebEmailIn
can use two protocols. Starting with 8.0.2, only the protocol through ESP is supported by E-mail Server.
Note: For backward compatibility, Platform SDK supports both protocols. (ER# 256163624)
Now, when the CreateEmailOut
method is used without fromAddress
, E-mail Server throws a ServiceException
with the message No valid sender found (either set CustomizedFrom parameter or default-from-address configuration option)
and error code 910 (NoValidSenderFoundManualSvcException)
. (ER# 250022355)

Corrections and Modifications
There are no restrictions for this release. This section describes new features that were introduced in this release of E-mail Server.
This release also includes the following corrections and modifications:
In some rare cases, when an SMTP connection between the corporate mail server and E-mail Server has been idle for a long time, the corporate mail server times out the connection. Now in this scenario, E-mail Server closes this connection to the corporate mail server. Previously, the following happened:
(ER# 236086258)
E-mail Server now correctly handles incorrectly formatted e-mails. Previously, E-mail Server would exit when processing an e-mail with an incorrectly formatted HTML part. (ER# 242527618)

Corrections and Modifications
There are no restrictions for this release. This section describes new features that were introduced in the initial 8.0 release of E-mail Server.
This release includes the following corrections and modifications that were made between Release 7.6 or earlier releases and the initial 8.0 release:
E-mail Server now correctly handles e-mails with an invalid domain in the From address. Previously, these e-mails could get locked in the corporate e-mail system. (ER# 226829494)
If the value for the server
option in the [smtp-client]
section is left blank, localhost
will be used as the default value. This information has been included in the eServices (Multimedia) 8.0 Reference Manual. (ER# 223572160)
E-mail Server now throws the error ServiceException with error code 737 and message Request already in progress, request rejected
when a second request is made for an interaction that already has a request in progress. Previously, E-mail Server threw error code 716 and the error message Server overloaded, request rejected
in this scenario. (ER# 215528516)
E-mail Server now supports the STARTTLS command. A new option, enable-starttls
has been added to the [smtp-client]
and [pop-client]
sections for this purpose. For more information about this option see the eServices (Multimedia) 8.0 Reference Manual. (ER# 217122307)
When the option convert-idn-to-unicode
is set to TRUE
, all domain addresses from IRD and all domain addresses configured in E-mail Server options must be specified in Unicode. This information has been included in the eServices (Multimedia) 8.0 Reference Manual. (ER# 200988998)
This section provides the latest information on known issues and recommendations associated with this product.
Do not set both the enable-ssl
and enable-starttls
options
(pop-client
and smtp-client
sections) to true.
Having enable-ssl
set to true
creates an encrypted connection from the start,
which makes an enable-starttls
connection impossible.
(an enable-starttls
connection must start with an unencrypted connection,
after which the socket connection is encrypted).
