Release Advisory

The following information applies to Genesys 8.1.x software and is important for you to note:

Genesys follows applicable third-party redistribution policies to the extent that Genesys solutions utilize third-party functionality. For specific information about any third-party software used in this product, see the Read Me. Contact your Customer Care representative if you have any questions.

Genesys Media Server includes the following new features in the 8.1.7 release:

• File-based call recording
• MCP is now configurable using signalvar in a VoiceXML Page
• Support for:
  • Call queuing and multiple route requests by CTI Connector (ICM)
  • SIP Server native Active-Active HA with Resource Manager
  • Red Hat Linux 6.

GVP 8.1.7 supports Red Hat Linux 6, but some GVP components run at lower capacities when compared to RHEL 5.x.
At release time, the best performance is achieved using RHEL 5. (GVP-19454 / 321172627)

Genesys Media Server includes the following new features in the 8.1.6 release:

Reporting

• Peak Media Use Reporting, by tenant and service.
• Media Reporting packaged with Media Server.
• All GVP and Media Reporting present in GAX 8.1.

Media

• Support for TIAS Bandwidth in SDP for Video .
• Configurable SDP maxptime is supported.
• Support for MP3 over RTSP with Real Helix .
• RTP Packet Interval for Conferencing at 20ms.

Genesys Media Server supports the following new features and new component in the 8.1.5 release:

• 32-bit and 64-bit GVP application binaries are available for Windows and Linux 32-bit operating systems and 64-bit operating systems, respectively.
• Interoperates with SIP Server 8.1, Management Framework 8.1.1, Genesys Administrator (GA) and Genesys Administrator Extention (GAX) 8.1.2, Composer 8.1, and T-Server for Cisco UCM 8.1.1.
• Dual stack IPv6, IPv4.
• The T-Server-CUCM to Media Server Connector is a new component, which acts as a Media Server for T-Server for Cisco UCM.

Genesys Media Server supports the following upgrades and new feature in the 8.1.4 release:

• Genesys Media Server components are supported on Windows 2008 R2.
• Genesys Media Server's Transport Layer Security (TLS) interface is Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) compliant.

Genesys Media Server (and SIP Server when deployed with Genesys Media Server) now supports the Call Recording solution.

Genesys Media Server 8.1.31 Installation Package includes the following changes to the gvp_mcp/packaging/music directory:

• The msgsm.wav file has been removed.
• The g723.wav file has been renamed g726.wav.
• The wav header in the g729.wav file has been modified to use the correct code and can now play back successfully on the platform.

The following Stream Manager features have not been implemented:

• Support for the IBM AIX operating system.
• Support for the Solaris operating system.
• Support for Cisco Call Manager T-Server call recording and announcements (using the CP4SM protocol).
• Support for Mayah Centauri streaming server.
• The Genesys Media Server will not send in-band and out-of-band DTMF simultaneously in a conference.

Support for the following outdated codecs has been removed: H.261, MS GSM, G.723.1.

ZIP audio file archives must be unpacked prior to use with Genesys Media Server.

In some instances, the Media Server might not be able to play prompts on Linux. To work around this issue, add the IP address of the host to the /etc/hosts file, and then restart Media Control Platform. For example:

• 127.0.0.1 localhost localdomain.localhost
• 172.32.45.66 machine1.domain.com machine1

Genesys recommends using static IP addresses for all Media Server machines. This applies to both Windows and Linux.
