Introduction

As of February 1, 2012, Genesys is no longer an affiliate of Alcatel-Lucent; any indication of such affiliation within Genesys products or packaging is no longer applicable. Please see the Genesys website at http://www.genesys.com for more details.

This release note applies to all 8.0 releases of iWD Manager, a graphical user interface for both technical and business configuration of the iWD solution, including the configuration of business rules and real-time management of tasks for business users.

• Links in the Contents section enable you to access information regarding a specific release. Releases are listed by version number rather than in date order. For this reason, a recent release may be listed after earlier releases, if the version number is lower. Except when otherwise noted in the information for a specific release, each release includes all of the features and corrections that were introduced for the applicable operating system at earlier dates, regardless of the version numbering.
• The Release Number table lists the supported operating systems for each release at a high level. For more detailed information, see the Genesys Supported Operating Environment Reference Guide.
• The Known Issues and Recommendations section is a cumulative list. It includes information on when individual items were found and, if applicable, corrected.
• The Corrections and Modifications section for each release may list additional issues that were corrected without first being documented as Known Issues.
• The Discontinued Support section is cumulative. It lists functionality that is no longer supported and the release number of the version in which support was discontinued.

Thread management and connection management in iWD Manager have been improved. Previously, unnecessary threads and connections were being created which, in high load situations, could lead to slowdowns and occasional OutOfMemory exceptions. This is now controlled by configuring a new parameter, iwd.connectorKeepAlive in the iwd.properties file. This parameter defines how long connections to Interaction Servers and Configuration Servers should be maintained since the user's last activity on iWD Manager. The default value is set to 0 (zero), which means that the connection will be kept alive for the life of the user's current session. This parameter has no impact on the iWD Runtime Node. (IWD-3416)

By default, Global Task List now sorts the tasks by their creation date. Previously they were sorted by interaction ID. (ER# 312616495)

After login, iWD Manager now automatically switches to the last open iWD tenant. Previously it defaulted to the System tenant. (ER# 312616467)

iWD Manager now uses the correct SQL statement to verify connectivity to its configuration database on MSSQL. Previously, it tried to use the statement intended for the Oracle database. (ER# 319490286)

The Is Assigned and Is Not Assigned filter criteria now work correctly when a task is manipulated from the Global Task List. However, all filters, including the default ones, need to be manually modified: the Is Assigned and Is Not Assigned criteria must be removed and added again, and the filter should be saved. • iWD Manager now supports ADDP when connecting to Configuration Server. To enable ADDP, you must configure the iwd.addpTimeout and iwd.addpRemoteTimeout parameters in the iwd.properties file. The values are specified in seconds. A value of 0 disables ADDP.
• The iwd.cfgConnectionTimeout parameter is now specified in seconds for consistency with the ADDP timeouts. In earlier releases, this timeout was specified in milliseconds.

iWD Manager now properly connects to Interaction Server in warm standby mode after switchover between the primary and backup Interaction Servers. Previously, an error was displayed in iWD Manager�s Global Task List view when the backup Interaction Server became the primary. (ER# 264741140)

The iwd_custom_fields_[databaseType].sql script provided with the iWD Manager IP has been updated. It now contains the correct Data Type for the IWD_businessValue column for MS SQL Server and Oracle. (ER# 266587471)

iWD Manager now allows you to sort the Global Task List by Business Value. (ER# 264347022)

In iWD Manager, the Global Task List now allows you to filter tasks that are in queues outside of the default iWD Business Process (IWDBP). (ER# 264347018)

iWD now correctly sends log messages to the Message Server that is configured as the backup Messager Server when it is running in Primary mode. (ER# 264287428)

The default user can now view interactions in iWD Manager's Global Task List. Previously, the default user was unable to view interactions in the Global Task List even with a default place specified in the Annex tab of the default Person object. Note that the default user is unable to edit interactions. (ER# 263203925)

The Person who is logged into iWD Manager is no longer required to have permission to read objects in the Environment tenant in order to view interactions in the Global Task List. (ER# 258677030)

The Rule name is now updated correctly when a rule is imported that has the same ID and a different name. (ER# 258677015)

• It is now possible to filter out non-iWD attached data from the Global Task List Attributes tab. Filtering is configured in the properties of the Interaction Server Connector service.

On the History tab of the Global Task List, system attribute updates are now correctly filtered if Interaction Server is using an Oracle database. (ER# 263239313)

• Users who log into iWD Manager will be authenticated against Configuration Server, ensuring that Configuration Server–based access control is observed when the user is accessing data through the iWD Manager user interface.
• You can view and manage eServices interactions through the Global Task List. In iWD Manager, you can view and manage (hold/resume, cancel, update attributes) any eServices interaction in addition to iWD tasks.
• Distribution points are now configured as Lookup Tables rather than as iWD services. They are no longer needed to define specific Interaction Server queues with which iWD should communicate; they are retained for use as a reporting dimension in iWD Data Mart.

Known Issues and Recommendations

This section provides the latest information on known issues and recommendations associated with this product.

Under load, iWD Manager's Global Task List may issue an occasional Error 500 error message in the browser session. This is caused by an internal exception while retrieving interaction snapshots.

Workaround: Click the OK button and repeat the previous action, it is not necessary to restart the application or browser session. (IWD-3379)

In some cases, the iWD Manager application can stop responding, if the Global Task List is repeatedly refreshed before the previous requests had a chance to finish.

Workaround: Restart the iWD Manager application.

iWD_Manager.sh and iWD_RuntimeNode.sh files, which are generated during installations of Linux with Websphere, contain DOS style line feeds which render them unusable.

Workaround: Edit the files before executing and remove the extra carriage return symbols (^M). (ER# 323699151)

Not all strings are localized on the Security Policies screen of iWD Manager. Some strings are still in English only. (ER# 298102013)

The out-of-the-box Global Task List filters and the criteria that a user adds when creating a custom Global Task List filter, are not localized on the Filter screen of iWD Manager. (ER# 298102028)

The word "Confirm" is not localized in the Confirm dialog in iWD Manager. (ER# 298187551)

On the Metric templates screen, the iWD Manager user interface does not display a localized tooltip when the user hovers his mouse over the Add icon (the green plus [+] symbol). (ER# 298101850)

In release 8.0.003 Interaction Server databases are updated from iWD Manager. However, if the Interaction Server databases were initialized with scripts provided in iWD release 8.0.002 or earlier, then Oracle and DB2 updates will not fully succeed.

Workaround: Use the update SQL scripts from the installation package.(ER# 294870526)

iWD Manager does not support underscores in Configuration Server host names.

Workaround: Use IP addresses instead of host names. (ER# 289479460)

iWD Manager displays only the first 64 bytes of the applied rule names in the History Tab of the Global Task List. To display the entire name, after you install this pre-release, complete the following steps:

1. Open Configuration Manager and navigate to the Multimedia folder.
2. Locate the EventLog_DAP Database Access Point.
3. Click the Options tab.
4. In the [esp-service-data] section, double-click the RulesApplied configuration option.
5. Change the iwd_rules default to iwd_rules;string;4000 or to your required maximum value.

Connectivity issues can arise when you are running iWD Manager on WebSphere Application Server 7 with an Oracle iWD Manager database.

Workaround: Restart the application server. (ER# 282620481)

The UNIX script files to build web application archive (WAR) files for WebSphere are incorrect.

Workaround: Build the WAR files manually. See https://sites.google.com/a/iwdlab.com/iwd8/deployment/building-wars-on-websphere-unix for details. (ER# 269856451)

Figure 3 ("Task Life Cycle") in the intelligent Workload Distribution 8.0 Deployment Guide currently shows that Assigned tasks can be Held/Resumed. This is incorrect; Assigned tasks cannot be put on hold.

The description of the HoldTask message in Appendix A of the intelligent Workload Distribution 8.0 Deployment Guide incorrectly states "Only tasks that are not held, completed, canceled, or rejected can be held". It should state "Only tasks that are not held, assigned, completed, canceled, or rejected can be held".

The ACME Sample Application webforms will generate an error message when you try to submit them to create a task. This is because in 8.0.001.06, the Web Service Capture Point now has a mandatory parameter createdDateTime. This parameter must be present in the createTask message, but its value can be NULL.

Workaround: Edit the dbutility.php file. This file is included as part of the ACME sample when you install the iWD Manager IP. If you choose the default destination path it will be in C:\Program Files\GCTI\iWD Manager\acme\web. Add the following row to the dbutility.php file:
$params->createdDateTime = NULL;

This row should be added between these existing rows near the bottom of the file:
$params->activationDateTime = NULL;
$params->dueDateTime = NULL;

The password encoder that is mentioned in the iWD 8.0 Deployment Guide is not available in the installation package for Windows. The password encoder is included in the Solaris installation package.

Workaround: The password encoder can be downloaded from https://sites.google.com/a/iwdlab.com/iwd8/general/password-encoder.

The script provided in the iWD Manager IP, which updates the Interaction Server interactions database type with iWD custom fields, includes an unsupported Data Type for the IWD_businessValue column for MS SQL Server and Oracle. This unsupported Data Type prevents the user from being able to sort the Global Task List by the Business Value column.

Workaround: You can manually edit the iwd_custom_fields_[databaseType].sql script to change the data type for IWD_businessValue. For MS SQL Server, change this from int to numeric. For Oracle, change this from integer to number. If you have already run this script on your database, you can manually modify the column through your database management console. (ER# 266587471)

In iWD Manager, the Global Task List does not allow you to sort tasks by Tenant ID and Business Value. (ER# 264347022)

In iWD Manager, the Global Task List does not allow you to filter tasks that are in queues outside of the default iWD Business Process (IWDBP). (ER# 264347018)

In iWD Manager, the Pending filter does not display tasks that are in queues that are outside of the default iWD Business Process (IWDBP). (ER# 264347011)

iWD Manager's age calculation for interactions is incorrect. (ER# 264346979)

iWD does not send log messages to the Message Server that is configured as the backup Messager Server when it is running in Primary mode. (ER# 264287428)

The default user cannot view interactions in iWD Manager's Global Task List even with a default place specified in the Annex tab of the default Person object.

Workaround:

1. In Configuration Manager, create a new Access Group (or use an existing Access Group).
2. In iWD Manager, create a new security role in your tenant, and map it to Access Group in Step 1.
3. In iWD Manager, add all permissions to this role.
4. In Configuration Manager, under your tenant (which is mapped to the iWD tenant), create an agent and a place. Assign the place to the agent, and assign the agent to the Access Group.

The information in the "Interaction Custom Properties" section in the intelligent Workload Distribution 8.0 Deployment Guide applies to sorting by columns in the Global Task List as well as filtering by columns in the Global Task List.

When using Internet Explorer 8 as a browser for iWD Manager, performance degradation might occur over time.

Workaround: Restart the browser or use an alternate browser. The recommended browser for iWD Manager is Firefox. (ER# 258677036)

iWD Manager does not support backup Configuration Server. During installation, specify the primary Configuration Server information when you are prompted for the backup Configuration Server information. If there is no backup Configuration Server in your environment, you still must enter the Configuration Server details in both places during installation. (ER# 260153759)

When connection to the iWD Configuration database is lost and restored, iWD Manager asks for database initializing/upgrade on login. This error can be ignored, and you should try to log in again. In some cases, you might need to try several times before you can successfully log into iWD Manager. (ER# 258677033)

The Person who is logged into iWD Manager must have permission to read objects in the Environment tenant in order to view interactions in the Global Task List. (ER# 258677030)

The Rule name is not updated when a rule is imported that has the same ID and a different name. (ER# 258677015)

Discontinued Support

This section documents features that are no longer supported in this software. This cumulative list is in release-number order with the most recently discontinued features at the top of the list. iWD 8.0 does not support the hierarchical multi-tenancy feature available in iWD 7.6.1. In iWD 8.0, managed tenants can only be configured one level deep, below the System tenant.

iWD 8.0 no longer includes the simulator distribution point and simulator distribution point assigner and completer services. Instead, an Interaction Server agent simulator is available as part of the eServices Support Tools package that can be requested from Genesys Order Management.

Internet Explorer 6 is no longer supported.
