Release Advisory

IVR Interface Option

7.5.x

Genesys Telecommunications Laboratories, Inc. © 2007

The following information applies to Genesys 7.5.x software and is important for you to note:

Note: Genesys solutions may sometimes utilize functionality from commercial or non‑commercial third parties, when such solutions are determined to provide quality approaches to items Genesys would otherwise have to raise costs to implement.

The defined interfaces are those of the APIs. The content and format of the IVR log files are subject to change.

IVR Server 7.5 supports IVR Drivers 7.5, 7.2, 7.1, 7.0, and 6.5. However, some new functions available in IVR Server 7.5 are only supported for IVR Drivers 7.5.

IVR Server 7.5 supports Warm Standby redundancy mode but does not support Hot Standby. For information about using Warm Standby with IVR Server 7.5, see the IVR Interface Option 7.5 IVR Server System Administrator’s Guide.

Note: While you can use the Solution Control Interface (SCI) to view the status of the IVR Driver, you cannot use SCI to start, stop or otherwise control the IVR Driver. This note applies to UnixWare-based drivers (CONVERSANT, Aspect for UnixWare) and WVR for AIX only.

Support has been discontinued for the following releases of supported operating systems:

For the current list of operating system releases supported for IVR Server, see the Genesys 7 Supported Operating Systems and Databases document on the Genesys Technical Support website.

The IVR Configuration Wizard available for release 7.5 can help you configure the IVR object, IVR Server applications, the IVR Driver application, and other associated objects. The wizard can also be used to migrate your 6.5 configuration objects to release 7.x. For more information about the wizard, see the IVR Interface Option 7.5 IVR Server System Administrator’s Guide. For more information about migrating to IVR Interface Option 7.5, see the Genesys 7 Migration Guide.

The IVR Server 7.5 product includes software developed by the Apache Software Foundation (http://www.apache.org/). The Apache license is installed with the product installation.

This product also includes the International Components for Unicode (ICU) libraries developed by IBM (http://www.ibm.com). The IBM copyright and permission notice are included in the product.

The Log Library for each application looks for the common.lms file in the installation directory that you specified for that application. If you need to run the application from a different working directory, you must either copy common.lms into the working directory or specify the command line option -lmspath to indicate the directory in which common.lms is located.

For application-specific messages, you must configure the messagefile configuration option in the log section on the Options tab of the Application’s Properties window and specify the path to the application-specific *.lms file as the option value.

If you are upgrading to release 7.x from a 6.x release of Genesys software, or deploying a 7.x component in an environment with components of a lower release, be sure to upgrade your Genesys licensing system. For more information, see the Genesys 7 Licensing Guide.

When you are using server applications on computers running the 64-bit version of the AIX operating system release 5.1, use the 32-bit executable files instead of the 64-bit files. When you start a file with no reference to the number of bits in its name, the 32-bit executable file starts and your server application works correctly on the 64-bit version of AIX release 5.1.

The installation script on UNIX cannot update configuration data for applications whose host computers contain a dot (".") in their names. Therefore, when configuring a Host object in the Configuration Database, avoid using dots in the value for the Host Name property on the General tab.

If you have to use an IP address (180.170.9.150) or a full host name including the domain name (such as server.genesyslab.com), you will receive a warning during the installation of any application on this host. The warning message tells you that the installation cannot find the specified object; and as a result, the installation script does not update the configuration data for this application. If you see this warning, continue with the installation.

After completing the installation, update the configuration data for an application you installed on this host as follows:

  1. Open the Properties window for the Application object in Configuration Manager.
  2. Enter the correct values for Working Directory, Command Line, and Command Line Arguments on the Start Info tab.
  3. Click Apply and OK to save your configuration updates.
  4. If using the run.sh file to start the application, verify that the Working Directory, Command Line, and Command Line Arguments are specified correctly in the run.sh file.
