On Windows, the PHP5 OCI Library requires the Oracle 9iR2, 10g, or 11g Client libraries. If the Oracle Database is on the same machine as PHP5, the database software already contains the necessary libraries. When PHP 5 is on a different machine, use the free Oracle Instant Client libraries (available at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/features/instant-client/index-100365.html).

An issue with Oracle connectivity may result in the appearance of the following error message: ORA-12705: invalid or unknown NLS parameter value specified. It is caused by a missing NLS-LANG registry key setting in the Windows client registry.
To correct this issue:
