section: msml
option: conference.participantjointimeout
Sets the time a conference waits for any participant to join, before it closes the recording. In extreme scenarios, this prevents a leak from occurring. Values are in milliseconds (ms).
Valid Values: 0 (disable) or a positive integer less than or equal to the maximum integer as defined by Genesys Administrator. Default: 120000 ms (2 minutes).

(GVP-20872)

The Media Control Platform no longer terminates when it fails to send a SIP response due to a network failure. Previously, the MCP would run into an infinite loop in this scenario and eventually terminate when it ran out of stack space. (GVP-20881)

The MCP now handles push-video with MSML correctly. (GVP-19663 / ER# 323830121)

GQM recording of SIP dialogs now allows for DNS SRV records in the destination. (GVP-19641 / ER# 323551101)

The Media Server now correctly calculates the RFactor in VOIP Metrics. (GVP-19619 / ER# 323191336)

The MCP no longer terminates when it encounters TCP destinations that do not exist. (GVP-19617 / ER# 323167971)

Performance issues with Nuance10 using MRCPv1 were resolved by a patch from Nuance, now available in NR10. (GVP-19578 / ER# 323049660, GVP-19580)

The MCP can now dynamically add a new MRCPv2 that has been provisioned with the same name as a provisioned MRCP that was previously removed. (GVP-19570 / ER# 322962507)

The MCP now correctly identifies the busy tone in CPD detection, in situations where a ringback tone transitions into a busy tone. (GVP-19564 / ER# 322891689)

The MCP no longer rejects a call in this situation: The MCP makes an outbound call using audio and video, and the gateway responds with a 0 port on the video m-line in the SDP of a 183 message, and then again in the 200 OK. (GVP-19400 / ER# 320415131)

When debug logs are enabled, a particular race condition no longer deadlocks the MCP. (GVP-19383 / ER# 320266473)

The MCP now correctly calculates the RTCP XR values for a round trip delay. (GVP-19348 / ER# 319642863)

The MCP no longer runs in an infinite loop when it tries to play a file of zero size. (GVP-19297 / ER# 318513577)

Previously, when recognitions occurred back to back, rare race conditions made it possible for typeahead DTMFs (in offboard recognition mode), and RRU, data to be lost. The MCP no longer loses this data under those conditions. (GVP-19290 /ER# 318439651)

The MCP now supports the <gvp:params> MSML element in dialog <send> elements that appear outside of the root of the dialog. The MCP now supports the <gvp:params> element in <send> elements that appear in subdialog elements including <cpddetect> and <playexit>. (ER# 303850391)

During GQM call flow, the MCP no longer adds a video m-line if reINVITE with no SDP was received. (ER# 303796867)

The MCP can now successfully interrupt an audio prompt while it is being fetched with the Full Call Recording feature enabled. (ER# 303340582)

Section: mpc
Valid values: An alphanumeric string. Examples: IN IP4 127.0.0.1 and IN IP6 ::1
Default value: None
Takes effect upon start or restart.

Specifies the connection value of outgoing SDP content for a call. This option is independent of [mpc] rtp.localaddr, which sets the IP address on the platform to be used. Use to send an IP address in SDP that is different from the IP address that is specified in [mpc] rtp.localaddr. To disable [mpc] sdp.connection, delete it or set it to an empty string. The Media Control Platform now sends an msml.conf.recording.failure event to SIP Server when the recording call leg fails while trying to connect to a third-party recorder. Previously, the Media Control Platform did not send notifications to SIP Server when third-party recorders returned a 486 Busy Here response and recording failed to start. (ER# 278191471)

The Media Control Platform now completes a non-graceful shutdown successfully when there are active MSML calls in the queue. Previously in this scenario, the Media Control Platform terminated unexpectedly. (ER# 280058861)

The Media Control Platform now correctly handles XML data that is received from the VoiceXML <data> element. Previously in this scenario, the Media Control Platform sometimes terminated unexpectedly while processing the JavaScript Library code. To address this issue, a new DOM implementation, based on XML for <SCRIPT> is introduced to replace the old implementation.

The new implementation differs from the old implementation in the following ways:

In addition, a new configuration option is introduced. See the New in This Release section in this release.

Note: If required, the old DOM implementation can be enabled by setting the Media Control Platform's [vxmli]data.use_xerces_dom_parser configuration option value to true.

(ER# 278104573)

The Media Control Platform now completes the execution of encodeURIComponent functions without the occurrence of JavaScript 1.5-related (unexpected) terminations. These failures occurred in the Media Control Platform's NGI in release 8.1.403.08 only, in which JavaScript 1.5 was used. (ER# 279518772)

There are no longer any occurrences of JavaScript 1.5-related (unexpected) terminations on the Media Control Platform, which were triggered by large strings being fed into the Javascript RegExp object. These failures occurred in the Media Control Platform's NGI in release 8.1.403.08 only, in which JavaScript 1.5 was used. (ER# 281368002)

The the validation rule for the [sip] out.invite.headers parameter in the Media Control Platform Application template is corrected and now validates option values that contain the dash (-) character. Previously, validation did not occur because Genesys Administrator did not accept values that contained dashes. (ER# 276800758)

The Media Control Platform now properly handles Real-Time Control Protocol (RTCP) packets that include a receiver report. Previously, when the Media Control Platform processed the receiver report, it sometimes terminated unexpectedly. (ER# 273223139)

The Media Control Platform now starts the VoiceXML dialog after it receives a valid remote RTP address in SDP, and the negotiated SDP contains an active media channel. Previously, when an invalid remote RTP address was received, it sometimes started the VoiceXML dialog prematurely, causing the beginning of the dialog to be cut off. (ER# 263094645)

The Media Control Platform's CachedTone::strQTMFFilePath configuration option is now mutex-protected. Previously, when this option was not mutex-protected, it caused core dumps, and call treatments sometimes failed when memory became corrupted under the load. (ER# 264407437)

The Media Control Platform now sends the H.264 codec to the conference end point successfully. Previously, H.264 packets were not forwarded in the conference. (ER# 265249008)

(ER# 259559561)

The Media Control Platform now correctly clears the route setup attributes for VoiceXML application MSML dialogstart requests when the session exits. Previously, when the route setup attributes were not cleared, the route setup for the next VoiceXML dialog failed to initialize. (ER# 259881164)

When the Media Control Platform reports VoIP metrics by using SIP PUBLISH messages, it no longer uses three digit values (such as, 127) to represent "unknown" values. This change is implemented to adhere to the IETF specification RFC 3611, which allows only two digits for values that represent "unknown". (ER# 260137481)

The Media Control Platform now logs application-dependent data correctly when Real-Time Control Protocol (RTCP) packets are received for an inbound call. Previously in this scenario, the Media Control Platform unexpectedly terminated. (ER# 260053844)

The Media Control Platform's sip.prack.support configuration option is now disabled by default. Previously, when this option was enabled (by default), it caused the number of SIP messages to increase significantly and interoperability issues sometimes occurred. (ER# 260225227)

The Media Control Platform now associates only the URI portion of the P-Assert-Identity header in an incoming SIP INVITE message with the session.connection.remote.uri session variable. Previously in this scenario, the entire header value was incorrectly associated with the session variable. (ER# 260951948)

The Media Control Platform and Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) can now be successfully installed on the same Windows host. Previously in this scenario, the Installation Project Event on Windows 2008 (64-bit) returned an incorrect registry view, which caused the installation to fail and produce errors. (ER# 261091332)

The Media Control Platform now plays regular recordings correctly when the network path is specified. Previously, the network path was treated as a relative path rather than a full path name. (ER# 249358436)

The Media Control Platform now supports sending the annexb parameter in the Session Description Protocol (SDP) for the G.729 codec. (ER# 250285091)

A documentation reference counter is now added to a subdialog whenever a VoiceXML application generates an event. When MRCPv2 is used with the NGI and the vxmli.default.xmllang=fr-FR parameter and TTS engine do not support the specified language, the error.unsupported.language error message is now generated. The workaround that was previously suggested for this issue, to use MRCPv1, or update the application to handle the error.tts event, is no longer required. (ER#  231102621)

The Media Control Platform now supports all incoming H.264 video frame rates from the RTSP server for playback. The workaround to enforce this frame rate by encoding the H.264 3GP file from the RTSP server with the 29.97 frame rate, is no longer required. (ER#  228742617)

In GVPi, when the SIP REFER method is used for Blind transfers, the agent no longer responds with an error in the SIP NOTIFY message and the caller leg is properly disconnected. The workaround that was previously suggested for this issue, to change the value of the MCP > sip > referxferwaitnotify parameter to Disable, is no longer required. (ER#  230171911)

When a 200 OK response to the INVITE refresher is received, the MCP now sends any pending INVITE. (ER#  218788857)

The NGI now supports specifying rules in a DTMF grammar URL. Previously, this resulted in an error.badfetch. (ER# 216421756)

The NGI now allows the application to use either "/" or "\" in the path as the separator of subdirectories, independent of operating system. Previously in NGI on Linux, Full Call Recording failed if a directory was specified under <log> that contained "\" in the directory path. (ER#  216833821)

Supported Operating Systems

The operating systems supported by this release are listed in the Contents, above.

New in This Release

This release is under shipping control. This section describes new features that were introduced in the initial 8.1 release of Voice Platform Media Control Platform.

Corrections and Modifications

This release includes the following corrections and modifications:

For built-in DTMF currency grammar, NGI now returns 0*00 when the caller enters 0. (ER#  210413921)

For built-in DTMF number grammar, NGI now handles leading zeros for numbers as well as more than 10 digits after a decimal point. (ER#  210413901)

In GVPi, the platform supports the out rule as defined in the Semantic Interpretation for Speech Recognition (SISR) specification. The contents of the out variable are mapped to VoiceXML forms as described in the VoiceXML 2.0 specification. The GVP 7.6 interpreter exposed the out value as a property of the result variable, and the VoiceXML application accessed the value through the fieldname.out variable. By contrast, the GVP 8.1 GVPi evaluates the contents of the out variable, and it assigns the correct slot value to the field.

To enable you to reuse legacy voice applications that rely on the GVP 7.6 behavior, GVP 8.1 provides a configurable option, SupportSisrOutElement, in the Popgateway1 configuration section on the Media Control Platform. For unchanged reuse of legacy voice applications that exposed the out result as a property, set the value of this option to False. The default value is true. (ER#  204794922)

The GVPi now throws a semantic error (error.semantic) when the array of <foreach> is undefined. To ignore the error, so that you can reuse legacy voice applications that rely on the GVP 7.6 behavior, you can set the ThrowErrorWhenForEachArrayUnDefined option in the Popgateway1 configuration section on the Media Control Platform to False. (ER#  204778450)

In GVPi, the default built-in time and date grammars now conform correctly to the VoiceXML specification for DTMF input.

For time input, the built-in time grammar uses the correct suffix character. The format of recognition results is hhmmx, where x is:

In GVP 7.6, the x field always had the question-mark value (?).

For date input of 4 or 6 digits, the built-in date grammar places the filler character(s) in the correct position. The format of recognition results is yyyymmdd. The standard specifies that, if any of the yyyy, mm, or dd input is missing, the question-mark character (?) substitutes for the missing input in the field.

In GVP 7.6, the question-mark character (?) was always inserted at the beginning of the result. For example, if the DTMF input is 200401, the result in GVP 8.1 is 200401??. In GVP 7.6, the result was ??200401.

To enable you to reuse legacy voice applications that rely on the GVP 7.6 behavior, GVP 8.1 provides alternative time and date grammar rules that will produce the same results as the GVP 7.6 interpreter. To use the alternative grammar rules, set the following options in the Popgateway1 configuration section on the Media Control Platform:

In NGI, when using Nuance Speech Server 5.0.3 on both MRCPv1 and MRCPv2, the <audio> tag that references invalid audio files within a <voice> tag no longer causes the prompt to be cutoff. See Nuance ticket number ST806120161. (ER# 192976501)

In NGI, a syntax error no longer occurs when using a VoiceXML application to call a Nuance OSDM application that uses the default waveform parameter. Previously, this occurred when the OSDMs included the statement <var name="waveform" expr=""/>, which is an invalid VoiceXML expression. (ER# 192949491)

During 96 channel load testing, Nuance Speech Server no longer fails to create recognizer instances after 12 hours. See Nuance ticket number ST805260061. (ER# 190852851)

Execution of a REFER with Replaces transfer to an agent now works correctly. Previously, this scenario would succeed only if the caller supported REFER and the agent supported the Replaces header (that is, there was no fallback mechanism for sending REFER with Replaces to an agent). (ER# 189274831)

When using MRCPv2 with Transport Layer Security (TLS), Nuance no longer fails to synthesize very large text. (ER# 185264953)

Known Issues and Recommendations

This section provides the latest information on known issues and recommendations associated with this product.

A performance issue, related to NSS 6.2.x, was discovered in MRCPv1 support. Until the next NSS version is released, if a Genesys or a Nuance direct end customers needs to request the patch for this issue, Nuance requests that the customer open a ticket with Nuance Tech Support referencing Genesys ST 201305170241, and Nuance support would deliver the patch which is named Incident201305170241_NSRD00088986_NSS6.2.2_Win32_1.zip.

Call Manager may terminate in the following race situation: The caller hangs up at the same moment that fetchaudiominimum was reached.

Workaround: Disable fetch audio, or set fetchaudiominimum to 0. (GVP-20355 / ER# 324941439)

Found In: 8.1.700.44 Fixed In:

When DNS High Availability routing is enabled, hosts must be resolvable all the time ( in case DNS query fails).

Workaround: Add the applicable hosts to the hosts file. (GVP-20353 / ER# 325245910)

Conference video fails when the stream is switched—Video quality isn't good, or MCP CPU usage is higher than expected, when all participants are using the same video codec.

Workaround: If all users are using the same video codecs and the same profiles and levels when relevant, disabling the video transcoders can improve performance and the quality of the video. This can be done by removing H263, H264 and VP8 from [mpc]transcoders and restarting the MCP, or, adding gvp.config.mpc.disabledtranscoders=H264 H263 VP8 to the relevant IVR Profile.

Note: This workaround disables text overlay and mixed video conferencing capabilities, and video transcoding between codecs and different profiles and levels will not work. (ER# 312608781)

Using MP3 over RTSP on a Linux Media Control Platform (MCP) may incur more CPU resource usage than is incurred when doing so on a Windows MCP.

Workaround: Run this situation on a Windows MCP. Otherwise, the capacity and performance on Linux may be tolerable for some uses. For comparison, Windows reaches 230 calls but bottlenecks on an RTSP server. (ER# 310102103)

The GVP 8.1.5 release includes a new parser for XML documents that are retrieved by using the <data> element. This new parser behaves differently from the previous parser in the following ways:

You can use the previous behavior by setting the value of the data.use_xerces_dom_parser configuration option in the [vxmli] section to true.

When MRCP Proxy is configured as an HA pair (active-standby), and MCP connects to the standby MRCP Proxy first during initialization, the proxy instance accepts the MCP connection and then immediately disconnects (and returns to running on standby mode). However, because MCP is not fully initialized yet, it fails to handle the disconnect correctly. As a result, MCP is not aware of the disconnect and can not perform a failover to the backup MRCPProxy. If two ASR resources have the same URI and one of them is deleted, thereby corrupting the internal resource tracking map, the Media Control Platform will terminate unexpectedly the next time an ASR resource is used. (ER# 282089905)

Found In: 8.1.410.18 Fixed In:

If the vxmli.maintainer.enabled option is configured with a value of true and debug tracing is enabled, the Media Control Platform sometimes terminates unexpectedly. (ER# 281350111)

Found In: 8.1.410.14 Fixed In:

In SIP Server 8.0.x deployments, userdata names are converted into lowercase when exposed in the Media Control Platform's VoiceXML session.com.genesyslab.userdata session variable. When SIP Server is upgraded to 8.1, the lowercase userdata names are preserved in the session.com.genesyslab.userdata session variable. Therefore, if you are currently using userdata names that contains uppercase characters, you might experience issues after the SIP Server upgrade. (ER# 280591210)

Found In: 8.1.401.56 Fixed In: 8.1.410.24

When the SIP INFO request that contains the MSML request arrives at the Media Control Platform before the ACK request, users might encounter an issue with the prompt announcement. This can occur when the ACK request is sent by using TCP and the INFO request is sent by using UDP. Use following configuration changes to workaround this issue: In the Resource Manager Application, increase the value of the [proxy]sip.mtusize option so that both the ACK and INFO requests can be transmitted by using UDP. (ER# 269437355)

When the bargein type, "dtmf" is used in a <field> or <block> that plays prompts, and the previously executed VoiceXML element has queued prompts with bargeintype="speech" or "hotword", the prompts might get stuck in the middle. To workaround this issue, add a dummy field that times out immediately before the bargeintype="dtmf" prompt. (ER# 270882757)

Found In: 8.1.401.56 Fixed In: 8.1.504.80

An MRCP resource name that is used for a ASR resource cannot be used for a TTS resource. However, resources of the same type (ASR or TTS) can be assigned the same resource name. (ER# 270192613)

In the Media Control Platform, when metrics logging to ASR is enabled by configuring the [sessmgr]log_metrics_to_asr option with a value of 1, an ASR connection might be created in addition to the connection used for speech recognition. This can result in the use of an additional ASR port on the same call. (ER# 261440951)

In NGI with MRCPv2, when vxmli.default.xmllang=fr-FR, and the TTS engine does not support the specified language, error.tts is thrown instead of error.unsupported.language. To workaround this issue, use MRCPv1, or update the application to handle the error.tts event. (ER# 231102621)

Found In: 8.1.101.32 Fixed In: 8.1.202.05

In GVPi, when using REFER BlindXfer and the agent responds with an error in NOTIFY, the caller leg is never disconnected. To workaround this issue, change the value of the parameter MCP > sip > referxferwaitnotify to Disable, so that the MCP does not wait for a successful response before sending a BYE.(ER# 230171911)

Found In:  8.1.101.32 Fixed In:  8.1.202.05

When playing H.264 video streams from the RTSP server, only 29.97 video frame rate is supported. To enforce this frame rate, the H.264 3GP file being played from the RTSP server must be encoded with the 29.97 frame rate. Other frame rates for H.264 RTSP streams result in jittery video experience for the user receiving the H.264 video stream from the MCP. (ER# 228742617)

To achieve a MEDIAREDIRECT bridge transfer in the Media Control Platform (for both NGI and GVPi) when CTI Connector and IVR Server are deployed, follow these steps:

For GVPi:

  1. In the IVR Profile, set the voicexml.gvpi.$transfer-type$ parameter to 2 Signal Channel.
  2. In the MCP Application, set the [sip]defaultbrigexfer parameter to MEDIAREDIRECT.

Note: If the voicexml.gvpi.$cti_endcall_on_agentleg_hup$ parameter is set to false in the IVR Profile (to enable the CTI REROUTE feature), GVPi will ignore the MEDIAREDIRECT parameter and force a BRIDGE transfer.

For NGI:

  1. Do one of the following:

When using Nuance Speech Server with MRCPv1 and MRCPv2, when an out-of-grammar input is provided during hotword recognition, maxspeechtimeout might be thrown instead of noinput if the valid input is not recognized. This issue is more likely to occur when there are long prompts being played or during a long bridge transfer.

Nuance documents this in their release notes in the Unresolved Enhancement Requests, Defects, and Known Issues section: NSRD00032546 Support latest MRCPv2 draft with regard to hotword mode timeouts.

When using GVPi and DTMF detection through Nuance SWMS, once an invalid digit is detected, additional digits will not be collected and nomatch is immediately returned. This is a third-party issue tracked by Nuance in defect NSRD00043826. As per the VoiceXML specification, additional digits should be collected until either the termchar is pressed or the interdigittimeout has elapsed before the nomatch is returned. (ER# 213264802)

Found In: 8.1.001.82 Fixed In: 8.1.201.75

When VCR control is used with video, the video will not be updated (and appear out-of-sync) until an I-frame is played from the MCP. (ER# 211872493)

In NGI, if com.genesyslab.savetmpfiles equals inputs, parameter values saved are internal values and not necessarily the same values provided by the VoiceXML application. A parameter whose value ranges from 01 in the VoiceXML page may be represented in the saved file as having a value ranging from 0100 (for example, Confidence, Sensitivity, SpeedVsAccuracy).
