Known Issues and Recommendations

This section provides the latest information on known issues and recommendations associated with this product.


Limitation: For Windows 2008R2 Server environments, if you require the capacity rule editor, you must install the configuration manager on a separate host that is running Windows XP, 2003, Vista, or 7.

To install a separate Configuration Manager, right-click on the Configuration Manager icon in the Details dialog box of the Genesys Express installation wizard and select Add another Configuration Manager, then specify the name of the new host.

For information about installing a GUI application, such as Configuration Manager, refer to Step 5 of the procedure "Continuing with the Installation", on Page 41, and Figure 22 in Genesys Express 8.0 Deployment Guide, version 8.0.001.00.


If you attempt to install the Reporting solution by using the Express Deployment Wizard on a remote host that is running Windows 2008, the Deployment Wizard might fail during the installation of Data Mart. (ER# 281302830)

Workaround: If the Deployment Wizard fails during the installation of Data Mart, stop the Deployment Wizard application by using Windows Task Manager. Then, launch the Deployment Wizard in maintenance mode on the machine where you want to install the Data Mart.

To be able to install the Data Mart on a remote machine you must import the following registry keys on the target server before launching the Deployment Wizard:

Universal Contact Server does not start immediately after it is deployed on Microsoft Windows 64 bits operating systems. In this scenario, a reboot is required before Universal Contact Server starts. (ER# 280344147)

The Microsoft SQL Express database might not be uninstalled if you installed Microsoft SQL Express database engine by using the Genesys Express Uninstall Wizard, and then attempt to uninstall Genesys Express. In this scenario, you have to uninstall the database engine manually. (ER# 279026041)

The Stream Manager does not support Microsoft Windows 2008 R2. Genesys Express Deployment wizard does not prevent from you from installing Genesys Express on Microsoft Windows 2008 R2; however, an error is displayed during installation. To install the Stream Manager that is associated with your Cisco T-Server, select another host that uses a different operating system. (ER# 273662868)

When Chat Server is installed by the Genesys Express Deployment Wizard, the following additional configuration is required for Chat Server to run correctly:

  1. Add an External Service Protocol (ESP) port to the Server information of the Chat Server application.
  2. In the Interaction Server application, add a connection to the Chat Server on the ESP port.

If you are choosing to upgrade to release 4.6 or higher and install MCR Web API Server at the same time, you must also upgrade Tomcat by selecting its associated upgrade check box in the Framework Solution. (ER# 201931811)

The database password must not contain the following characters: [] {}() , ; ? * ! @ as documented on the Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN): http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms161962(SQL.90).aspx. (ER# 190325291)

If you upgrade from release 4.2 or earlier to release 4.6 or higher and your database contains accented letters (for example, é or è), do the following:

  1. Launch the Microsoft SQL Server Client Network Utility on the DB Server host machine.
  2. On the General tab, verify that the Automatic ANSI to OEM conversion option is disabled.
  3. If it is not, be aware that the 7.5, or higher, releases of Genesys components included in Genesys Express (for example, Configuration Manager, Solution Control Interface, Interaction Routing Designer, and so on) cannot read accented characters that were entered in your database by 7.2 or earlier releases of these same Genesys components.

When upgrading from Express 4.2 to Express 4.6 or higher, the preparation for upgrading Interaction Routing Designer may fail. If so, you will receive a warning message that the Deployment Wizard failed to uninstall Interaction Routing Designer. When this message appears, click Yes to continue the operation and Interaction Routing Designer will be upgraded. (ER# 132283055)

For the Interaction Routing Designer (IRD) application installed with Genesys Express 4.6 or higher, the IWD section in the Shortcut bar (the left pane) is not shown. To correct this, do the following:

  1. Launch IRD and go to Tools > Routing Design Options and select the Views tab.
  2. At the top of the dialog box, clear the check box for the Default item.
  3. Within that window of the dialog box, scroll down and clear the check box for the Event Log item.
  4. Click OK and close the dialog box.
  5. Logout and then log back into IRD. The IWD section now displays in the Shortcut bar.
