A new attribute, sockettimeout, is available for the os:execShellCmd command that is part of SPD authoring. This attribute defines the time period (in milliseconds) that GAX waits for a command to complete on a selected host (this command is specified in the cmd attribute). If this command execution is longer than the sockettimeout value, the os:execShellCmd process fails. If no value is specified for sockettimeout, the value defaults to 600000 (10 minutes). Corrections and Modifications

This release includes the following corrections or modifications:

Browser sessions are now immediately invalidated for user accounts that are disabled or deleted. The browser redirects affected users to the login screen upon the next HTTP request. (GAX-1989, GAX-1990)

Users can no longer delete a parameter if it is used in a deployed parameter group, even if the parameter is no longer part of the parameter group template. Previously, users could delete the parameter in this scenario, which might cause data corruption. (GAX-1714)

Users can now modify and save parameter groups with a global parameter of configuration object type. Previously, if there was a global parameter of configuration object type in a parameter group, the Saving failed. Validation Error. error displayed. (GAX-3961)

Previously, when Genesys Administrator was accessed from the Genesys Administator link in GAX and the configured protocol and port was https and 80, the link did not function correctly. Now the redirect works as expected under this scenario. In addition, it is recommended that in an https setup, the ga.timeout option should be set to a larger number (for example, 10), so that GAX has enough time to get a confirmation response from Genesys Administrator during initial login. (GAX-3993)

GAX now correctly distinguishes audio resources that have the same name but are from different tenants. (ER# 321753191, GAX-1674)

GAX now properly synchronizes parameters that were changed elsewhere in the Configuration Layer. Previously, GAX showed the parameter was changed, but attempting to synchronize the change by using the Value from Transaction Object option might have produced an error. (ER# 321644065, GAX-1675)

GAX now supports the import of role privileges from section CfgGenericServer for backward compatibility. (ER# 321386086, GAX-1676)

The Genesys Administrator Direct Login feature now supports an additional configuration option, ga_path, that allows logging in to Genesys Administrator instances that are configured to use a directory path other than the default, wcm. If you have upgraded GAX from a previous version, you might have to manually add ga_path in the Configuration Layer. (GAX-1652)

GAX now supports role privileges for managing Bulk Change Sets. The privileges include:

(ER# 320470470, GAX-1634)

When using Internet Explorer, GAX users no longer need to re-enter their login information in Genesys Administrator after clicking the Launch Genesys Administrator link in GAX. (GAX-1534)

When using Mozilla Firefox 17 or higher, Genesys Administrator now opens properly in a new browser tab after clicking the Launch Genesys Administrator link in GAX. (GAX-1484)

The link in GAX to log in to Genesys Administator (GA) now works properly if GAX and GA have connected to the backup Configuration Server. (ER# 314003358, GAX-1310)

Corrections and Modifications

This release includes the following corrections and modifications:

When installing Genesys applications, GAX sets the value passed in the primaryConfServ attribute. If this value is not passed from the XML, GAX sets the Configuration Server retrieved from the GAX Application object's Connection tab as the primary Configuration Server. (ER# 303211316)

The log file written by GAX now includes a timestamp, which is automatically appended to the file name defined in the log section of the GAX Application object. Previously, the omission of a timestamp could sometimes result in duplicated data in the log. (ER# 303198924)

License Utilization Reporting can now export reports when multiple customer names and records are present in the License Reporting Manager data source. The customer name presented in the exported report is derived by selecting the most recently issued entitlement record that is valid for the date the report is generated. If no match can be found, entitlement_expired is displayed instead of a customer name. (ER# 302954526)

On startup, GAX now requires connections to DAPs only for those plugins that are installed or, in the case of Auditing, enabled. If you choose not to use Auditing, you must set the auditing option in the GAX Application object to false. (ER# 301592781)

The demotest.xml file has been updated to support both Windows and Linux OSs. The OS type is dynamically determined by the script based on the Host object selected during deployment. Previously, the demotest.xml file contained Linux-specific sections. (ER# 301442389)

Passwords are now encrypted to appear as asterisks (*****) or as blank spaces in the UI and in exported deployment logs. (ER# 299559211)

Note: For Genesys HPE users, this release is compatible only with HPE SPD release 8.1.201.15 or later.

Corrections and Modifications

This release includes the following corrections and modifications:

Various UI improvements have been made to improve usability and robustness for GAX and all plugins. (ER#s 300109947, 296623128, 300921883, 300981589, 300981585, 300981583)

Log options for the GAX application object can now be configured using special characters such as :, /, \, and " " so that file paths can be specified. (ER# 300553669)

GAX now produces improved error messages when attempting to connect to a Genesys Deployment Agent (GDA) installation that is non-standard. These improved messages enable you to troubleshoot and correct your GDA installation. GAX uses the GDA port as configured in the Configuration environment. The Host object for the machine on which GDA is installed has the GDA port set in the port option in the [rdm] section of the Host object's Annex tab (for example, rdm/port=5000). If the port is not configured in the Host object, GAX uses the default port, 5000, which is also the default installation port for GDA v.8.1.100.05 and higher. This description of GAX functionality supersedes that documented for ER# 299589238 in GAX v8.1.201.41. (ER# 300280216 )

The number of concurrent sessions supported by GAX is constrained by the Java heap size configured in Tomcat’s startup properties. The number of possible concurrent sessions can be roughly calculated by (heap_size) / (4_MB). (ER# 300103863)

The Deployed Solutions list view and Deployment Log Details for a specific deployment now contain both the date and time of the deployment. (ER# 298671056)

A summary of choices made and values specified during the Service Deployment Wizard process is now presented to the user for review as the final step of deployment. (ER# 297866685)

A deployment progress and success indicator is now displayed in the Deployment Wizard. (ER# 297719273)

Note: For Genesys HPE users, this release is compatible only with HPE SPD release 8.1.201.15 or later.

Corrections and Modifications

This release includes the following corrections and modifications:

GAX now produces improved error messages attempting to connect to a Genesys Deployment Agent (GDA) installation that is non-standard. These improved messages enable you to troubleshoot and correct your GDA installation. GAX uses the GDA port as configured in the Configuration environment. The Management Framework Host object for the machine on which GDA is installed has the GDA port set in the port option in the rdm section of the Host's Annex tab (for example, rdm/port=4998). If the port is not configured in the Management Framework Host object, GAX uses the default port, 4998, which is also the default installation port for GDA v.8.1.1. (ER# 299589238)

A vulnerability to Cross Site Scripting (XSS) when using Firefox 3.6.x has been eliminated. (ER# 299086527)

The file name of an ASD upgrade script has been renamed to properly reflect the schema version. The correct file name is now gax_asd_upgrade_db_8.1.101.14_to_8.1.201.15_ora.sql. (ER# 298842829)

Deployments that are in progress now display an end date of N/A rather than NaN-NaN-NaN (the term NaN indicating Not a Number). (ER# 298740901)

When redeploying a solution, passwords are now correctly shown as blanks rather than with asterisks. For security reasons passwords are not stored and must be re-entered when redeploying. (ER# 298657473)

The wording of the error message issued when attempting to upload a duplicate solution definition file has been made independent of browser type used. Previously, the message could be misleading when browsing with Internet Explorer 7. (ER# 298556491)

In HA configurations, GAX now correctly connects to the primary Configuration Server in the following scenario:

  1. The primary Configuration Server is not running when GAX is started.
  2. GAX connects to the secondary Configuration Server.
  3. Subsequently, the primary Configuration Server is brought back in to service and the secondary Configuration Server is taken down.

Corrections and Modifications

This release includes the following corrections and modifications:

In the Parameter Storage Format section of Operational Parameters, GAX now displays text that is more descriptive. Previously, the text was not sufficiently descriptive to support the use of this section. (ER# 299338661)

The Pulse (formerly EZPulse) (Restricted) layout snapshot charts now correctly display object names. (ER# 299051381)

For LUR provisioning, the SI type User defined bundle has been removed from the SI list. (ER# 298925110)

The speed of display of the tenant tree service has been optimized. (ER# 298671032)

GAX memory usage has been optimized. Previously, GAX could run out of memory after multiple logins. (ER# 298668901)

Default ADDP timeout values of at least 10 seconds are now configured for the deployment of the Inbound Solution. Previously, the ADDP timeout values were not configured, which might have resulted in false disconnect states because of delays in the data network. (ER# 298656851)

The What's New section of the GAX Home Page now displays the new items for GAX. Previously, the Home Page displayed new items for Genesys Administrator. (ER# 298559367)

New in This Release

This is a hot fix for this product. This release does not contain new features or functionality.

Corrections and Modifications

This release includes the following corrections and modifications:

If no localization preferences are set for a user, the date, time, and numbers are now displayed correctly in the appropriate columns of the LUR reports. Previously, if no localization preferences were set for a user, some columns in the LUR reports were not displayed correctly. (ER# 298928513)

License Reporting Manager (LRM) expects a string value for provision counts. GAX sends a string value which can be interpreted as valid Integer. GAX tests the values that are input for LRM provision counts to ensure that they are legal integer values, and then converts the integer to a string to be sent to LRM. GAX stores all provision counts as string values in Configuration Server. (ER# 298789231)

GAX now correctly updates and sets the configuration options that are specified in the application template when the IPs are installed. Parameters in the Annex are also correctly updated and set. Previously, some application options were missing when GAX deployed IPs. (ER# 298741254, 299017446)

GAX now ignores unexpected directories in the structure of files for IP deployment of Stat Server and eServices Solution. If unexpected directories are encountered, GAX creates a debug message in the deployment log. Previously, if Genesys Administrator created directories for templates in the IP source directory, GAX displayed an exception when it tried to transfer an IP to a remote machine. (ER# 298723511, 298657412)

LUR tenant reports can now be sorted by column. This function did not work in previous releases. (ER# 298648751)

A commit; statement has been added to GAX SQL initialization and upgrade scripts for Oracle databases; this does not apply to the scripts for Microsoft SQL databases. Previously, if you were installing GAX for the first time or upgrading from release 8.1.x to 8.1.2, when the SQL upgrade scripts were executed and your client application had auto-commit switched off, database changes might not have been committed. (ER# 298571487)

The Add button in the LUR Provisioned Counts panel is displayed only to users that have the following privilege set: LRM_PROV_MGMT (Manage tenant provisioned count). As well, the LUR provisioned counts are available only for those users. Previously, there was an error in the treatment of the privilege for managing provisioned counts which resulted in the incorrect display of the Add button; also, the management of provision counts was usable only for the default user. (ER# 298537147)

You can now also add Associated Applications to a Parameter Group Template that is in use. Previously, you could add Associated Applications to a Parameter Group Template that was not in use only. (ER# 298264889)

New in This Release

This release is under shipping control. This section describes new features that were introduced in this initial release of Genesys Administrator Extension (GAX). GAX was previously available as a Restricted Release.

Corrections and Modifications

This release includes the following corrections and modifications:

The upgrade procedure in the Framework 8.1 Genesys Administrator Extension Deployment Guide does not specify the location of the previous versions of the upgrade scripts. You must run all of the upgrade scripts, in order, from earliest to most recent when you are upgrading GAX from 8.1.x to 8.1.2. Refer to the detailed upgrade procedures in the Framework 8.1 Genesys Administrator Extension Release Advisory. (ER# 298228803)

The upgrade scripts are stored in the following directory: GAX_HOME/resources/sql_scripts/oracle

The prerequisite version of Configuration Server is not included in the upgrade procedure on pages 45 and 46 of the Framework 8.1 Genesys Administrator Extension Deployment Guide. The prerequisite version of Configuration Server is listed on page 28. (ER# 298228798, 298253762)

If you are upgrading from GAX 8.1.x to GAX 8.1.2, you must first upgrade Configuration Server to 8.1.1. If you do not upgrade Configuration Server, you will get an error message. Genesys recommends that you follow the detailed upgrade procedure that is included in the Framework 8.1 Genesys Administrator Extension Release Advisory to avoid error messages about Configuration Server during your upgrade operation. (ER# 298228793)

The upgrade procedure from GAX 8.1.x to GAX 8.1.2 that is described in the Framework 8.1 Genesys Administrator Extension Deployment Guide might not be detailed enough for some users. A more detailed procedure is included in the Framework 8.1 Genesys Administrator Extension Release Advisory. (ER# 298228770, 298228730)

The eServices supervisor's login is now created added under the Agent Logins for the eServices switch. Previously, you had to manually add the eServices supervisor login under the Agent Logins section of the eServices switch.(ER# 289152665)

An instance of Interaction Routing Designer (IRD) that was installed by GAX can now access parameterized strategies by tenants. (ER# 288650451)

Important upgrade information has now been included in both the Framework 8.1 Genesys Administrator Extension Deployment Guideand the Release Advisory. (ER# 284144277)

If you delete a tenant and all of its resources, the OPM and ARM resources no longer become inaccessible through the GAX interface. (ER# 282980542)

After you create and save a new parameter, if you immediately select it from the list, the display name is now correctly displayed. (ER# 282980534)

Negative numbers can now be entered as a value for a parameter of type integer. (ER# 282926499)

For some interface elements, such as personalities, parameters, parameter groups or audio resources, the use of very long names no longer results in the name extending beyond the boundary of the element, such as labels and button boxes. (ER# 282926492)

If you add new objects to the configuration layer by using Genesys Administrator while the GAX Deployment Wizard is running, the objects no longer become inaccessible to the Deployment Wizard. Previously, to access the new objects, you had to relaunch the GAX Deployment Wizard and repeat the deployment procedure. (ER# 273611840)

To determine the version of a document, check the version number that is located on the second page in PDFs or on the About This File topic in Help files.
