The following information applies to Genesys 8.1.x software and is important for you to note:

Genesys follows applicable third-party redistribution policies to the extent that Genesys solutions utilize third-party functionality. For additional information about third-party software used in this product, see the Read Me. Please contact your Customer Care representative if you have any questions.

The AIX operating system uses a default memory allocation model. If the allocated memory is not sufficient for your application, refer to the Genesys Hardware Sizing Guide for information about increasing the memory allocation.

For PostgreSQL databases, the PostgreSQL standard_conforming_strings option must be set to off to ensure that Configuration Server correctly handles string data. This is especially important for PostgreSQL 9.x releases, in which the default value for the option might be different.

For MS SQL databases, DB Server requires Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) version 2.8 or later.

For MS SQL databases, DB Server 7.5 or later does not correctly read international characters that were written to the database if both of the following conditions existed:

Configuration Manager and Solution Control Interface do not work with Configuration Server in multi-language mode; you must use Genesys Administrator and configure it accordingly.

Configuration Server or Configuration Server Proxy in multi-language mode will allow a connection with a client application only if that client is also in multi-language mode. Likewise, you can log in to Configuration Server or Configuration Server Proxy in multi-language mode only from a GUI application that is also in multi-language mode.

However, there is one exception to these rules. If the allow-mixed-encoding option is set to true, Configuration Server or Configuration Server Proxy will allow the connection and, if a log in attempt, try to authenticate the user, regardless of if the client is in multi-language mode. However, be aware that in this case, if a client sends string data that is encoded differently than the encoding used by the server, Configuration Server or Configuration Server Proxy will terminate immediately.

To use Outbound Contact Manager (OCM) with Management Framework 8.1, you must have the latest release of OCM 7.6.

To use Genesys Agent Desktop with Management Framework 8.1, you must have the latest release of Genesys Agent Desktop 7.5 or 7.6.

When using redundant Configuration Servers, if the Configuration DB Server terminates while the backup Configuration Server is terminated, and is restarted after the backup Configuration Server is restarted, the primary Configuration Server remains in READ-ONLY mode. Do not attempt to:

Recommendation: Wait until one of the Configuration Servers is fully initialized, or its connection with the database is restored and it is no longer in READ-ONLY mode.

Configuration Server Proxy 8.1.0 or earlier will not work with a master Configuration Server 8.1.2. If you have pre-8.1.1 Configuration Server Proxies in your environment and are upgrading to Configuration Server 8.1.2, do the following:

  1. Upgrade the master Configuration Server to 8.1.2.
  2. Upgrade the Configuration Server Proxies to 8.1.2.

When using Distributed Solution Control Servers, always ensure that each Solution Control Server, either by itself or as part of a high-availability pair, is running on the Host that it controls. Failure to do so can, in some cases, result in unpredictable behavior of the Solution Control Servers in the Distributed configuration. For example, different Solution Control Servers might start competing for control over applications on the host.

Solution Control Server might stop responding if any log spool files (*.qsp) are deleted while Solution Control Server is running. To avoid this problem, do not delete *.qsp files.

On the Windows 2008 operating system, SNMP Master Agent does not start in console mode if a user (who is not the Administrator, but might be a member of the Administrators Access Group) starts it manually from the browser's Control Panel.

To enable or disable log filtering using the new application-level configuration option filtering, refer to the Genesys 8.1 Security Deployment Guide.

If using TLS security with LDAP external authentication, you must configure all LDAP servers listed in the configuration (including those used as backup servers, and servers in different domains) to use the same SSL certificate.

A remedy is available for a possible security vulnerability in the FlexNet Publisher lmadmin and lmgrd components previously announced by Flexera. Genesys has incorporated the FlexNet Publisher Release 11.10 hot fixes to address this vulnerability in Management Framework CD version 8.1.002.00 and later.
