Supported Operating Systems

The operating systems supported by this release are listed in the Contents, above.

New in This Release

There are no restrictions for this release. This section describes new features that were introduced in this release of DB Server.

Corrections and Modifications

This release includes the following corrections and modifications:

DB Server now handles binding errors correctly. If a binding error occurs, DB Server successfully generates a binding failure log. Previously in this scenario, DB Server terminated unexpectedly while generating the error log. (MFWK-18209)

DB Server, configured to send logs to the spool, now properly handles the scenario in which it is unable to read the spool files while sending the messages from the spool. Previously in this scenario, DB Server terminated unexpectedly and produced a core file. (MFWK-18091)

DB Server now truncates binary data that is greater than 10 MB in size without dropping the connection to the database. Previously in this scenario, DB Server was unable to handle data that size and would terminate its DB client, requiring the Application to re-establish its connection. (MFWK-17703)

New in This Release

There are no restrictions for this release. This section describes new features that were introduced in this release of DB Server.

Corrections and Modifications

This release includes the following correction or modification:

When using DB Server on a 64-bit platform to fetch data from multiple records in an IBM DB2 database, the NULL value set for a time field was fetched, as expected. Previously in this scenario, a value of NON-NULL from the previous record was fetched incorrectly.

Note: This is a common problem in DB2 and applies to any datatype. This correction is available only to Genesys 8.5.1 database clients and is located in the dbclient_851 folder of the DB Server Installation Package (IP).

Supported Operating Systems

The operating systems supported by this release are listed in the Contents, above.

New in This Release

There are no restrictions for this release. This section describes new features that were introduced in this release of DB Server.

Corrections and Modifications

This release includes the following corrections or modifications:

The DB Server process no longer exits during startup when it receives an error message from Configuration Server that an application with the same name is already running. Instead, DB Server now keeps trying to connect until it has succeeded or stopped. This issue sometimes prevented the DB Server service from becoming operational after its host was rebooted. (MFWK-17284)

When using the PostgreSQL DBMS, database requests no longer fail if the SQL binding statement contains timestamp format strings, such as YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS for example. Previously in this scenario, the text after :MI was considered a binding variable, such as YYYY-MM-DD HH24$36:SS in the example above.

Note: This correction applies only if you are using the latest version of database client processes stored in the dbclient_851 folder, as described above.

Supported Operating Systems

The operating systems supported by this release are listed in the Contents, above.

New in This Release

There are no restrictions for this release. This release does not contain new features or functionality.

Corrections and Modifications

This release includes the following correction and modification:

Timestamp data retrieved from an Oracle database is no longer truncated, so values of all timestamp-related data types (such as TIMESTAMP, TIMESTAMP WITH TIME ZONE, and TIMESTAMP WITH LOCAL TIME ZONE) will be accurate. Previously, this data was truncated automatically by the database, and subsequent display and processing of the data was incorrect.

Note: This correction applies only if you are using the latest version of database client processes (oracle_name=./dbclient_851/dbclient_oracle), as described below.

Corrections and Modifications

This release also contains the following corrections or modifications:

If an Oracle stored procedure contains incorrect syntax, DB Server now displays an error message on the console, and continues to process the next request. Previously in this scenario, DB Server just stopped responding. (ER# 303758465)

When using the Postgre DBMS, the db client no longer terminates or disconnects unexpectedly during the execution of a BINDED function. (ER# 301281179)

When written to a log, the password for the Configuration Database is now represented as a string of asterisks (for example, ******). Previously, the password was not hidden, enabling anyone with access to the log to know the password. (ER# 294840321)

Corrections and Modifications

This release also contains the following corrections or modifications:

When using Oracle Client, operations involving Oracle Large Object (LOB) types now work properly and are no longer a factor in causing the DB Server client for an Oracle database to terminate unexpectedly. (ER# 295772304)

When operating on the HP-UX IPF platform, the DB Server client for an Oracle database now works properly. Previously, DB Server requested PA-RISC Oracle Client software instead of IPF. (ER# 295699661)

DB Server, when running on the HP-UX platform and connected to an Oracle database, now correctly stops all dbclient_oracle processes if the request timeout expires. Previously, the dbclient_oracle processes would continue running, reaching 100% CPU utilization. (ER# 292370983, 287182359)

DB Server no longer generates the following log message at startup: Cannot create managed object "exit". This message did not affect the operation of DB Server, and could be ignored. (ER# 290373611)

Documentation Corrections

This section provides corrections and updates for issues found in currently released documentation for this product. The changes described here will be included in future published versions of the document.

In "Appendix C: Installing and Configuring an Oracle Client" of the Framework 8.1 DB Server User's Guide, step 5 directs the user to create a configuration file that contains incorrect content, as follows:

  1. Create the configuration file
    /etc/ld.so.conf.d/oracle-11.2-client64.conf
    containing the line
    LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/oracle/11.2/client64/lib.

This step should read:

  1. Create the configuration file
    /etc/ld.so.conf.d/oracle-11.2-client64.conf
    containing the line
    /usr/lib/oracle/11.2/client64/lib.

Known Issues and Recommendations

This section provides the latest information on known issues and recommendations associated with this product.

On Windows, PostgreSQL DB client may terminate unexpectedly or operate incorrectly if any of the environment variables used by PostgreSQL to locate files on the filesystem are provisioned without proper escaping of "\" character. Make sure you provision the Windows paths according to the PostgreSQL documentation. For more details, see PostgreSQL Databases. (MFWK-21498)

On Linux, DB Server using Microsoft ODBC driver does not connect to the MS SQL database while using Data Source Name (DSN). (MFWK-21440)

Found In: 8.1.302.05 Fixed In: 8.1.302.09

On Linux, DB Server is currently using Microsoft ODBC 13.X driver for direct connections to MS SQL database. This restricts the use of non-ASCII characters when working with databases that have non-Unicode native codepages. For more details on the restrictions, see the Microsoft documentation for the specified driver version. (MFWK-20770)

Found In: 8.1.302.00 Fixed In:

DB Server does not support MS SQL client software on Linux in a multi-language configuration environment. (MFWK-19231)

Found In: 8.1.302.00 Fixed In: 8.1.302.01

If you use a tool other than Windows certificate services to generate the TLS security certificate and then import the certificate to Windows manually, the CERT_TRUST_REVOCATION_STATUS_UNKNOWN validation error will occur and the TLS connection to the Genesys server will fail.

Workaround: Set the client-auth option to 0 (zero) to disable server authentication in the DB Server TLS socket. Refer to the Framework 8.1 Configuration Options Reference Manual for a full description of this option and how to use it.
