Corrections and Modifications
The operating systems supported by this release are listed in the Contents, above.
This is a hot fix for this product. This release does not contain new features or functionality.
This release includes the following correction and modification:
DB Server now processes stored procedures more efficiently. If a stored
procedure contains one or more parameters set to an empty string
(""
), DB Server passes the parameter value as is (that is, as
an empty string). Previously, it passed the parameter value as a string of
blank characters, which caused excessive processing overhead. This issue
occurred only with MS SQL. (ER# 298796055)

This is a hot fix for this product. This release does not contain new features or functionality.
This release includes the following correction and modification:
DB Server, when running on the HP-UX platform and connected to an Oracle
database, now correctly stops all dbclient_oracle
processes
if the request timeout expires. Previously, the dbclient_oracle
processes would continue running, reaching 100% CPU utilization.

Corrections and Modifications
The operating systems supported by this release are listed in the Contents, above.
There are no restrictions for this release. This release does not contain new features or functionality.
Note: Following the initial Hot Fix release of this version of DB Server on the Solaris platform, DB Server 8.0.300.07 was tested on the other platforms (listed in the table above). On October 25, 2010, the release type for all platforms changed from Hot Fix to General.
This release includes the following correction and modification:
DB Server now correctly handles the situation when one or more dbclient
processes stop. Previously in this situation, DB Server sometimes generated
a log containing a significant number of Standard
-level log
events (00-02024: OS Signal SIGCHLD received
), and then
terminated. (ER# 235526695)

DB Server now supports the Unresponsive Application Detection feature. (ER# 245585584)
DB Server now supports the Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5.4 operating system.
DB Server now supports the PostgreSQL Database Management System (DBMS) on the RHEL 5.4, Windows 2003, and Windows 2008 operating systems. (ER# 245022800, 245073742)
This release also includes the following corrections and modifications:
The text of log events 00-04503 and 00-04504 now include the attribute
[server name]
as specified in Framework Combined Log Events
Help. (ER# 223994552)

The operating systems supported by this release are listed in the Contents, above.
There are no restrictions for this release. This section describes new features that were introduced in this release of DB Server.
DB Server can now detect a connection failure with the corresponding database. To detect the failure, DB Server clients monitor the responses they receive from the Database Management System (DBMS). If a response is not received within a specified interval, the client process stops executing. This is understood by DB Server as a failure of the DBMS, which is reported to the application.
DB Server now supports IBM DB2 64-bit clients.
DB Server now supports Oracle 10G Real Application Cluster (RAC).
This release also includes the following corrections and modifications:
You can now deploy DB Server on a host running Windows Server 2008 using the Deployment Wizard in Genesys Administrator.
A DB Server IBM DB2 client now correctly executes stored procedures with
input parameters of type float
. Previously, the
float
parameters were not stored correctly, and the stored
procedure did not provide the required result. (ER# 239124462)
A DB Server Informix client now correctly executes stored procedures with no parameters. Previously, the stored procedure did not execute, but returned an error instead. (ER# 239750711)

Corrections and Modifications
The operating systems supported by this release are listed in the Contents, above.
This release is under shipping control. This section describes new features that were introduced in this release of DB Server.
Traffic between DB Server and Configuration Server is optimized, as DB Server now subscribes for only necessary notifications from Configuration Server.
DB Server now supports Oracle 11g, MS SQL 2008, and DB2 9.5 databases.
DB Server now includes metadata, which provides you with a more user-friendly way to configure DB Server. The metadata contains all configuration options supported by DB Server, including those that are already included in the template. This metadata is supported only by the new web-based Genesys Administrator. For more information about metadata, see Framework 8.0 Genesys Administrator Help.
This release also includes the following corrections and modifications:
Stored procedures called by MS SQL database clients now execute properly,
regardless of the order of parameters in the procedure call. Previously,
stored procedures sometimes failed if the sequence of actual parameters in
the procedure call was not the same as the sequence of formal parameters
declared in the stored procedure, and if the names of the parameters in the
procedure call did not start with the character @
.
(ER# 195598936)
When operating in autocommit
mode, DB Server now properly
commits the results of a stored procedure to the database. Previously, on
an Oracle DBMS, the transactions were not committed automatically, but
included with the subsequent transaction instead. (ER# 183321311)
This section provides the latest information on known issues and recommendations associated with this product.
When connecting to, or disconnecting from, Configuration Server, DB Server
does not include the attribute [server name]
in the related log
events as specified in Framework Combined Log Events Help.
