Build 2 of this release includes support for Solaris (64-bit) that was missing in the build that was originally released on January 9, 2012. Customers who obtained this software release prior to February 7, 2012, and need support for Solaris (64-bit) must download Build 2 from the Genesys Software Download website. (ER# 293478968)

Data Sourcer can now terminate while scheduling object changes by SCI. (ER# 282857344)

Data Sourcer no longer reports unnecessary messages during startup, such as (4) Collector: New Message (6,3) 'MsgTypeObjectChanged'. (ER# 282794821)

Data Sourcer now continues attempting to connect to unavailable Configuration Servers. Previously, Data Sourcer stopped the attempts to connect to Configuration Servers on unreachable hosts or non-running Configuration Servers on the local host. (ER# 279328586)

Data Sourcer now generates a Standard log event message, 38-04505, when the reconnection request to Configuration Server fails. (ER# 279249472)

Data Sourcer no longer fails during initialization when the objects it is monitoring are being modified in the Configuration Layer. (ER# 272286884)

Data Sourcer no longer delays shutdown because of long-running activation processes that have been scheduled. (ER#s 271346761, 271053845)

Data Sourcer no longer fails to schedule reconnections to Stat Server while simultaneously creating an initial connection or a reconnection to the primary and backup Stat Servers. (ER# 271162458)

New in This Release

This is a hot fix release for this product. Refer to the Deployment Procedure for this release to deploy the installation package within your environment. This release contains no new features or functionality.

Corrections and Modifications

This release includes the following corrections and modifications:

Data Sourcer now attempts to reconnect to the backup Configuration Server after the first connection attempt fails. Previously, if Data Sourcer unsuccessfully tried to establish a connection to the backup Configuration Server before the Configuration Server's role changed from the backup to primary completely, Data Sourcer did not make other attempts to reconnect. (ER# 257596176)

Data Sourcer now correctly keeps trying to reconnect to Configuration Server when the connection has been lost. Previously, after a few subsequent attempts to connect to both the primary and backup Configuration Servers had failed, Data Sourcer would stop trying to reconnect to Configuration Server. (ER# 271273400)

Data Sourcer now generates Standard Level log messages indicating whether Data Sourcer is connected to Configuration Server as follows:

You can set up an alarm condition to receive a notification of such an error. Refer to the Framework 8.x Management Layer User's Guide for instructions on how to set alarm conditions. (ER# 269907048)

New in This Release

There are no restrictions for this release. This release of Data Sourcer introduces no new features or functionality.

Corrections and Modifications

This release includes the following corrections and modifications:

Deactivating and then, shortly thereafter, reactivating a layout no longer raises an issue. Previously, that scenario could lead to certain statistics being presented as VOID, with the following type of error logged:

2010-10-08 10:12:22.594 (4988) Error: Can't add object (4,114), probably invalid record in OL_OBJ_TO_REPORT

(ER# 261644801)

This release supports a direct upgrade of Data Sourcer from the 7.0 and 7.1 families. Previously, an intermediate step, upgrading to 7.2, and only then to 7.6, was required. (ER# 261520922)

When the layout for agents is activated, Data Sourcer now reads only Agents from ODS. Previously in this case, Data Sourcer might unnecessarily re-read all objects from ODS. (ER# 261738088)

Now it is possible to start several Data Sourcer instances on a given box running Windows Server 2008. Previously, after the first instance started on this OS, subsequent instances might fail to start. (ER# 261767028)

Data Sourcer now correctly updates all appropriate definitions for statistic types in ODS when the parameters for those statistic types have been changed in the options of a Stat Server Application object. Previously in this case, some of the definition updates were incorrectly omitted. (ER# 261878682)

Data Sourcer now supports performing a configuration recheck, initiated via DMA, for a given layout. Note: You need DMA release 7.6.000.06 or higher to take advantage of this capability. (ER# 261923282)

This release of Data Sourcer is supported for Windows 2000, SP4. (ER# 261521132)

Data Sourcer no longer terminates unexpectedly when it is configured to work through a Configuration Server proxy and an update on Configuration Manager of a Configuration Server application object is performed. (ER# 245956269 and 248104150)

Data Sourcer no longer deletes an object from a layout due to a disconnection from Configuration Server when the layout is in the process of being rechecked by Data Sourcer. (ER# 249074114)

Data Sourcer now requests statistics for new objects that had been introduced while Data Sourcer had lost connection with Configuration Server. (ER# 253480712)

Data Sourcer no longer incorrectly attempts to add duplicate objects to ODS. (ER# 253762224)

Data Sourcer no longer terminates unexpectedly, in rare occasions, after the connection with DB Server is lost. (ER# 254588983)

Data Sourcer is now able to detect corrupted chunks files that were previously ignored. (ER# 255263997)

Data Sourcer no longer incorrectly removes switches when a tenant is disconnected from the Data Sourcer application. (ER# 255463518)

Data Sourcer no longer initiates a configuration recheck for unrelated layouts of individual objects when a campaign object is changed in Configuration Manager. (ER# 256028360)

Data Sourcer now correctly shuts down when it is requested to stop while in the process of opening statistics. (ER# 256873348)

Data Sourcer no longer incorrectly excludes existing objects from individual objects layout for Queues and Routing Points. (ER# 257374711)

Data Sourcer now uses the reconnect timeout value configured in the Configuration Server application instead of using a constant value of 10 seconds. (ER# 258197840)

Data Sourcer no longer delays reconnecting to DB Server after the connection has failed in previous reconnect cycles. (ER# 258261607)

Data Sourcer no longer significantly delays its shutdown activities in high-volume data environments. (ER# 258496564)

Data Sourcer, when working with the chunk-composition-mode option set to a value of legacy, now writes to ODS the portion of data that is already collected for the layout that is being deactivated or for all layouts when Data Sourcer is shutting down. (ER# 261445964)

Supported Operating Systems

The operating systems supported by this release are listed in the Contents, above.

New in This Release

There are no restrictions for this release. This section describes new features that were introduced in the initial 7.6 release of Data Sourcer.

Corrections and Modifications

This release includes the following corrections and modifications:

Data Sourcer no longer experiences data loss when multiple Stat Server switchovers are performed while Data Sourcer is requesting statistics. (ER# 248129821)

Data Sourcer now correctly validates the range of values for the data-excess-low-threshold and data-excess-high-threshold options. (ER# 248017371)

In previous releases, Data Sourcer may not have checked for the presence of certain required tables in the ODS. This issues is corrected in this release. (ER# 234727269)

Data Sourcer no longer generates a receive date such as, "1/1/1970," in scenarios in which the new chunk-composition-mode option is used, and Data Sourcer has to flush chunks because of a queue overflow. (ER# 250441653)

Data Sourcer no longer writes data to the ODS that it failed to write previously for a layout that has already been transferred and deleted by ETL Runtime. Previously, this issue occurred in some scenarios on the Oracle RDBMS. (ER# 227425251)

Data Sourcer no longer schedules data flow checks when there are no active layouts or active connections to Stat Server. (ER# 248473188)

Data Sourcer now correctly manages internal Receive Queues. Previously, incorrect handling of internal Receive Queues sometimes resulted in data loss or incorrect data collection. (ER#s 253765620, 254054514)

Data Sourcer now correctly reconnects to Stat Server if during layout deactivation the connection to Stat Server is lost. (ER# 254234565)

Data Sourcer now provides a new and improved chunk composition algorithm, the chunk-composition-mode option, that is more dependable in high-volume data environments. This new option replaces the new-data-processing option. Genesys recommends configuring the safe or normal values for the chunk-composition-mode option. (ER# 249188237)

Data Sourcer no longer opens two connections to Configuration Server at the same time when reconnecting. Previously, as a result of the mis-synchronization caused by opening two active connections in parallel, Data Sourcer might have stopped functioning. (ER# 250667421)

Data Sourcer no longer loses data after reconnecting to Stat Server. Previously, in this scenario data loss might have occurred. (ER# 248735457)

Data Sourcer no longer becomes unresponsive while stopping if the chunk-composition-mode option is used. (ER#s 250715032, 253100983)

Data Sourer no longer loads information for switches that do not belong to those Tenants that are assigned to corresponding Data Sourcer applications. (ER# 252218208)

Data Sourcer no longer tries to include newly-created Tenants in the Tenant-based layout after the Tenant is created in the Configuration Layer. Now Tenants are included in the Tenant-based layout only when the Tenant has been added to the Data Sourcer Application object. (ER# 226768148)

Data Sourcer no longer continues to run while the Solution Control Interface (SCI) indicates that it is stopped. (ER# 229963768)

Data Sourcer now correctly adds statistical parameters to ODS that have been added manually to Stat Server through the Configuration Layer. (ER# 203656281)

The description of the activate-new-layouts option is now correct in the 7.6 release of the Reporting 7.6 Data Sourcer User's Guide. (ER# 220080491)

Data Sourcer now consistently requests statistics for layouts in Tenants that are newly assigned to Data Sourcer. Previously, Data Sourcer sometimes failed to do so. (ER# 224267431)

Data Sourcer now provides improved support for HA during layout activation and prevents the collection of data for objects that were not added to the ODS database. (ER# 225029430)

Data Sourcer now accounts for new switches and the related DN objects that are created while Data Sourcer is running. Previously, switches that were created while Data Sourcer was running were not always noted by Data Sourcer. (ER# 226768111)

Data Sourcer no longer creates new layouts unconditionally from available templates in Tenants that are newly assigned to Data Sourcer. This behavior can be enabled or disabled by using the new AUTO-CREATE-NEW-TENANT-LAYOUTS option, which is located in the collector section. (ER# 226802601)

Data Sourcer no longer writes verbose messages unconditionally while requesting statistics for layouts. These verbose messages are now suppressed by default, and you can enable or disable them using the new VERBOSE-REQUEST-STATISTICS option, which is located in the collector section. (ER# 226803046)

Data Sourcer now correctly deletes a Campaign Group from a report layout, based on individual objects when that Campaign Group was deleted in Configuration Database. (ER# 228113511)

Data Sourcer no longer starts to create chunk files before the chunk queue size has reached the N*2 limit, where N is the number of active layouts. (ER# 228967836)

Data Sourcer now correctly deletes chunk files, in certain situations, after the chunk was written to the ODS database. (ER# 229492461)

Data Sourcer no longer accepts or collects statistical data for objects that were already deleted but not recognized by Stat Server. (ER#s 229607051, 229607131)

This release of Data Sourcer introduces a new binary-format chunk file. Data Sourcer displays the chunk origin server ID in the log and also stores it in this new chunk file. Binary-format chunk files generated with previous releases of Data Sourcer can no longer be used. If you need to write data from the binary-format chunk files to the ODS, use the same release of Data Sourcer from which the binary-format chunk files were generated before upgrading to this 7.6.000.15 release. (ER#s 234278611, 248129823)

Data Sourcer now correctly re-requests statistics from the Stat Server after the connection to Stat Server is restored but server profiles are not received. In such scenarios, by default Data Sourcer now schedules subsequent reconnects to Stat Server every 10 minutes. (ER# 245956223)

Data Sourcer no longer terminates unexpectedly after the connection to Stat Server is lost and then restored during layout deactivation. (ER# 246534311)

Data Sourcer now properly closes and opens modified statistics during configuration re-check. (ER# 246623721)

Data Sourcer now implements a more efficient data-processing algorithm that prevents data loss when both the Primary and Backup Stat Servers are running in Backup mode. (ER# 246749461)

Data Sourcer no longer opens a duplicate connection with a Stat Server when the connection to Stat Server is lost and option values have been changed when Data Sourcer reconnects to Stat Server. (ER# 246749606)

Data Sourcer no longer incorrectly updates ODS definitions of statistical parameters that are not identified as correct by Stat Server. (ER# 246766171)

Data Sourcer no longer terminates unexpectedly in certain circumstances during the layout deactivation process. (ER# 246864471)

Data Sourcer no longer creates chunk files for chunks that do not require them. (ER# 246994511)

Data Sourcer no longer generates chunks with the time boundaries [0,0] at times when the connection to the one of the Stat Servers in the Primary/Backup pair is temporarily unavailable. (ER# 247288714)

Data Sourcer now correctly performs data-flow checks and, when appropriate, generates alarm messages that are related to the data flow. (ER# 247754247)

When Data Sourcer reconnects to Stat Server after the connection was lost while Data Sourcer was checking statistical parameters, it no longer generates a continuous loop. (ER# 248225752)

Known Issues and Recommendations

This section provides the latest information on known issues and recommendations associated with this product.

Data Sourcer version 7.6.000.20, and all earlier versions of Data Sourcer 7.6 will not run on the Windows 2000 operating system. Genesys will provide a fix for this issue with the next release of Data Sourcer 7.6. (ER# 261521132)

Found In: 7.6.000.20 Fixed In: 7.6.000.21

The current version of Data Sourcer (7.6.000.20) does not support a direct upgrade from version 7.0.x and 7.1.x of Data Sourcer. If you need to perform these upgrades, follow these instructions:

  1. Contact Genesys Customer Care for instructions on obtaining the installation package for Data Sourcer version 7.2.003.12 that is suitable for your operating system.
  2. Download the Data Sourcer 7.2.003.12 installation package according to the instructions from Genesys Customer Care.
  3. Complete steps 1-5 of the Deployment Procedure for Data Sourcer.
  4. Perform steps 6, 8, 9, and 10 of the Deployment Procedure using Data Sourcer 7.2.003.12.
  5. Uninstall Data Sourcer 7.2.003.12.
  6. Data Sourcer 7.6.000.20 can now be installed by performing the Deployment Procedure starting with step 6.

Genesys will provide support for the direct upgrade path from versions 7.0.x and 7.1.x to versions 7.6.x in the next release of Data Sourcer 7.6.

(ER# 261520922)

Found In:  7.6.000.20 Fixed In:  7.6.000.21

Data Sourcer, running on the AIX platform, may terminate unexpectedly after a database error or a lost connection to DB Server is experienced while Data Sourcer is writing data chunks. Data Sourcer should be restarted if you have experienced this problem. (ER# 260640579)

Found In:  7.6.000.20 Fixed In:

Second, and subsequent, instances of Data Sourcer may not startup when running on the Windows 2008 Server operating system. For this reason, Genesys recommends not to attempt to start more than one instance of Data Sourcer on each Windows 2008 Server machine. There is a planned fix for this issue. (ER# 261767028)

Found In:  7.6.000.20 Fixed In:  7.6.000.21

Data Source may not startup normally, under the rare circumstances, if Configuration Server is not running at the moment when Data Sourcer is started. If you experienced this issue, please be certain that Configuration Server is running, and then restart Data Sourcer. (ER# 261604887)

Found In:  7.6.000.15 Fixed In:

If the [collector] option activate-new-layouts is set to false, Data Sourcer will not restart data collection for the active layouts belonging to any Tenant that detaches from the Data Sourcer Application in Configuration Manager and then reattaches to the Data Sourcer Application. In such a scenario, you must set the [collector] option activate-new-layouts to true to ensure that layouts will activate and Data Sourcer will restart data collection. (ER# 250315436)

Found In:  7.6.000.15 Fixed In:

In some situations when both Stat Server and DB Server have been disconnected, one Data Sourcer in a Primary/Backup pair may have received chunks not received by the other. This situation may result in "stuck" chunk files, which are present in the Backup Data Sourcer but not in the Primary one. As a result, these chunks are also missing from ODS.

To solve this issue, switch the modes of the two Data Sourcers in Solution Control Interface. This allows the Data Sourcer that has the missing chunks to become the Primary and write the missing data to ODS. (ER# 246714751)

Found In:  7.2.100.49 Fixed In:

DMA does not enable you to delete newly added time profiles when both the Primary and Backup Data Sourcer applications are running. Instead, you must stop both Data Sourcer applications to delete time profiles within DMA. Genesys, however, does not recommend deleting time profiles or other statistical parameters. (ER# 104297002)

Found In:  7.2.002.01 Fixed In:

Data Sourcer does not consistently display the application name of its Configuration Server in the log. Instead, Data Sourcer logs the application name it read at startup for the first—usually the Primary—Configuration Server connected. (ER# 100331)
